"We're saying that if by some chance ... you hear that Mo'Nique slept with another man, it won't be a need for a press conference, because I'm going to say, 'Why are y'all tripping off that?' ... That's not a deal breaker for myself. ... We are logical enough to understand that things like this do happen."
-- Mo'Nique's husband and manager, Sidney Hicks, on her revelation about their open marriage. (Jet)

don't agree with Sydney's statement. No, that's not matrimonial. What he is basically saying is ISH happens and that's a part of a marriage relationship? By him sayin that, this can possibly happen? You have to watch what you say because, your words that you say will become true.
He should have known better than that to give such a stupid statement to the public.

If people don't want to uphold the marriage vows, why don't they just bypass marriage period. What was he trying to say, that she has already messed around on him. Why did they even get married or have those kids. I think sometimes people just get married for the thrill of it, not really for the right reasons. So I guess we'll give this one another few months before we here it's over too.

I agree. It seems marriage doesn't mean what it use to and that's sad. There's people that want the right to marry (of course, you all know who I'm talking about) because they're in love and because they believe in those vows and here we have a couple who's making a mockery of marriage and that angers me!! If you're going to have an open marriage, DON'T bother getting married. Maybe the wedding day meant more to her than the actual vows. With her, who the hell knows!! I didn't know they had kids but now that I do, that too angers me because when I think about what they're going to teach their kids about marriage, that scares the hell out of me!! Those kids don't stand a chance and when one of them cheats and the media picks up on it, who do you think is going to pay for their "acts"?? THE KIDS!! What a sick azz couple!! I've lost all respect I had for Mo'nique which wasn't that much to begin with I might add... Peace

Agree with you and formyson.
It angers me that some people who want to get married and uphold their vows, can't get married, but people who seem to really care less and seem to know nothing about marriage, can get married and divorce just as quickly, and forget about the entire thing.
And I'm not just talking about this couple, I'm talking about anyone who gets married on a whim, is together a few months, if not days, and then get divorced or annulled as if nothing happened, but a certain group of people, who shall remain nameless, can't get married at all.
Seems to me like marriage only matters if it's trying to keep two people apart, but doesn't matter much when people don't care to actually honor it.

thats what im saying. why take that vow before God if you are not going to stand true to what are saying. i understand ish happens but agreeing to it before it even does speaks volumes about their commitment to each other. thats why marriage has become such a joke. especially in the black community.

If Mo'Nique has an open marriage, it's safe to say that her husband will most likely reap the benefits. Because honestly,....Who wants to have sex with Mo'Nique????

In my opinion, I beleive that Monique's husband cheated on her. That is the reason why he is OK with it and Monique is Ok with it? From what I read, he cheated on Monique while she was pregnant their twins. No, they weren't married at that time. No, this couple didn't or don't take this marriage seriously and the ones that get caught in the middle and are hurt are the KIDS! THEY ARE BOTH SO SELFISH!!!!!!
In their eyes, by telling each other if any one of them has an affair is OK, no need to divorce over that? Monique says by keeping it a secret is not OK? Either way it is CHEATING and WRONG!

For all that Self-esteem crap Mo' talks...All I'm hearing is Insecurity!!!! She is secure enough about herself to tell other women about themselves but yet she thinks it okay for her husband to cheat on her???? I wonder what their vows were...."I vow to cheat on you and to make you look like a complete fool til' death do us part.." I mean really???
