Joe Jackson, the father of late, great entertainment icon Michael Jackson arrived at the '2009 BET Awards' earlier tonight at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
The show was revamped within the last 48 hours to pay tribute to Jackson, who died June 25 a the age of 50.
CNN's very own Don Lemon attempted to interview Jackson, 80, before the show and it resulted in quite a peculiar discourse where Jackson introduced the late King of Pop's attorney L. Londell McMillan, an unnamed spokesperson who read a statement from the family and his current business partner – a co-record company owner who plugged a new blu-ray project.

I too agree that the BET AWARDS was disguisting and disrespectful! I think Joe said more than he should have and should have kept his mouth shut! In the interview, Lemon kept asking Joe about Katherine and the Family and he kept cuttin him off talkin and was talkin about his record label. Joe was ignorant and said "and"?, when Lemon was asking about the Family. That wasn't right! Joe wanted to shine and to me, it was all about HIM! I didn't like the attitude he had in the interview and shouldn't have been there. Now towards the end of the Award Janet made an appearance and to me, Janet was so emotional. I really felt bad for her standin on stage like that. She looked so Beautiful! I pray that God bless that Family and help give them the strength to move on!

joe came off all about self. all wheelin n dealin there, no fluff at all! i wonder if the family's still all afraid of him or after he shows out like this when he gets home if they tell him he needs to have been more gracious & polite and shouldn't have plugged his stupid new record label. i couldn't imagine growing up under this man's roof. RIP michael, thought are with the rest of the jackson family.

Except for the opening, Jamie Fox, the OJays, Johnny Gill, Tyrese, Trey Songz, New Edition and Janet appearing the show was awful. Such an embarrasment. Debra Lee should have ensure no vulgar and underwear showing such a disgrace!!! and Beyonce as usual singing someone else song and Jay Z's performances so out of place!!! After seeing the opening, I was expecting the entire show to be about Michael what an awful tribute! WHAT HAPPENED???

Correction, Don Lemon says to Joe "The last couple days have been hard". Joe goes, "And"? He was so ignorant and didn't have to answer him like that. Joe had no damn business being interviewed 3 days after Michael's death! This time should have been getting together Michael's Funeral! Don Lemon had asked Joe, "was there somethin you wanted to say about your son's legacy"? Hear Joe goes, "Nobody back then didn't recognized him" and he wish he was here today to see people love him now? That is so not true! There were a lot of people all over the world that cared and loved Michael! Joe couldn't say in his own words what a great son Michael was and how he really thought about him?
In Joe's eyes, all he seen in Michael was "Superstar", $$$$, $$$$$, $$$$$ and more $$$$! What about Michael being a loving Father, loving Brother, Loving Uncle, and loving friend, and loving SON? No words Joe? Joe should be ashamed of himself and I pray that God forgives him for all the beatings, the verbal abuse, and sayin to Michael that he was ugly!

Yeah Joe is 80 yrs old but he surly REMEMBERED to bring his close friend with him during the interview and mentioned about their record label? This wasn't the time and should have focused on talkin about his son Michael not about HIM. Maybe Joe, should have waited to have a interview about the devastation loss of Michael at another APPROPRIATE time. Maybe Joe, should have stayed home makin funeral arrangements for Michael. He was there at the BET Awards becuase of self. LOL :-)

What a shame, with a father like that...who needs enemies! Shame on him! I hope one of the other family members or Ms. Jackson steps up and puts him in his place once and for all.
