Joe Jackson, the father of late, great entertainment icon Michael Jackson arrived at the '2009 BET Awards' earlier tonight at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
The show was revamped within the last 48 hours to pay tribute to Jackson, who died June 25 a the age of 50.
CNN's very own Don Lemon attempted to interview Jackson, 80, before the show and it resulted in quite a peculiar discourse where Jackson introduced the late King of Pop's attorney L. Londell McMillan, an unnamed spokesperson who read a statement from the family and his current business partner – a co-record company owner who plugged a new blu-ray project.

I'm not feeling Joe. Why was he all smiles And Janet was fighting back tears? Promoting Michael - he didn't do that when Mike was alive. he of all people should be greiving uncontrollably as it is himself that pushed Michael towards being obsessive about his celebrity status. His whole idea of rasing children was based on greed. If he was tired of working in the steel mill then HE should have doen something to bring himself up, but his idea of raising children with criticism, the relentless pushing, absence of a childhood is what killed Michael a long time ago. Latoya should keep her mouth shut as well. shame on her receving $$ for an interview she did overseas - she's just like her daddy. Everyone else in the family is carrying themselves with dignity

Joe seemed really eccentric, confused, etc. Does he have Altzheimer's Illness? Who checked him out of the Convalescent home and dropped him off at the awards show? I am sure he was grieving but he seemed to be working "disorientation" to the max. Hey, am I the only one who thinks so? Sit down "JOE"!

M Q A T: Joe knew what he was saying and he knew what he was doing. He's too shrewd a guy not to. I didn't see the whole show but caught him with his carrying on about another deal and when he accepted Michael's award, he really went over the top when he once again carried on about HIS company and HIS deal, then at the very end he said "oh Michael was a talented person" A talented PERSON?? I about fell over! His son who just passed away, a talented PERSON?? And that's IT? Sorry, it still makes me angry to think about it. Joe Jackson is not senile, he's selfish and a self promoting ("Look at ME!") self loving, child abusing SOB. Michael Jackson did all in his power promoting world peace and ending world hunger. He was so giving of himself and his finances trying to obtain peace in this world yet he never really had any peace inside his heart, inside himself. RIP Sweet Michael.

I think that Joe Jackson may be suffering from dementia as well as narcissism. His comments were self-serving, and I thought he was dressed like a
p-i-m-p. The news media should stop asking this man to do interviews. The family seems to be not be making him privy to certain details...and obviously, for good reason.

Joe Jackson's behavior confirmed ALL Micheal's accusations-no wonder he said he had no childhood!I was so disappointed to hear that Chris brown was not allowed to perform because of Jay-Z and Beyonce's demands-who REALLY wanted to see Jay do HIS OWN Song@a tribute, not acknowledge MJ, and then forget to tell his wife to give Vanity 6 their lingerie back?(y'all know that fit was from the Nasty Girl video!)No matter the situation or circumstances, Chris should have been allowed to pay homage to his idol-and it would have made the show so much better. Once again, BET disappoints me with their ghetto, I mean urban programming..they were better off going ahead with the original show and then doing a separate PLANNED tribute. New Edition saved the day....thank the lord for Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky,Mike, Ralph&Johnny!

What is wrong with black people. It seems like nobody wants to be black anymore. The women specially. Look at Beyonce, The jackson sisters, and all the black females in show business. They are all blond. Not one wears the beautiful black natural hair, that some women in Africa still wear.
What happenned to "BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL"
