LisaRaye: Getting Real on New TV One Show

When actress LisaRaye married the premier of Turks and Caicos, Michael Misick, her life included its share of private jets and visits with the Queen of England. She even became the face of the tropical island destination via a massive advertising campaign.

But all of the glitz and glam came to a screeching halt when the first couple got into a highly publicized brawl last year at the mansion they occupied in Turks and Caicos.

'The Player's Club' star, who said she put her career on hold to serve as the island's first lady, is now picking up the pieces from her much-talked about separation and is attempting to reclaim her acting career.

LisaRaye (previously known as LisaRaye McCoy-Misick) will open up to the world about her complex personal life in a new reality television series on TV One.

The eight-episode series, which was announced during the Television Critics Association late last week, is slated to premiere the spring of 2010.

In an interview earlier this year, the 41-year-old actress told Essence, "I feel like I gave up too much of myself and compromised a bit too much." Her estranged husband is now reportedly facing government corruption charges.

"It's not fair to keep me involved in all this mess that I know nothing about," she added.

The new show follows the Chicago native as she raises her 19-year-old daughter Kai and provides advice to her incarcerated sister, platinum-selling rapper Da Brat -- all while taking care of her ailing mother.

Though LisaRaye said earlier this year that there is a law in Turks and Caicos that requires a couple to remain married for three years before beginning divorce proceedings, Misick (pictured right with his estranged wife in 2006) has announced his desire to get a divorce. He has since been romantically linked to the BET television personality Rocsi.

Filming for the yet-to-be-titled series will begin this fall.
