When actress LisaRaye married the premier of Turks and Caicos, Michael Misick, her life included its share of private jets and visits with the Queen of England. She even became the face of the tropical island destination via a massive advertising campaign.
But all of the glitz and glam came to a screeching halt when the first couple got into a highly publicized brawl last year at the mansion they occupied in Turks and Caicos.
'The Player's Club' star, who said she put her career on hold to serve as the island's first lady, is now picking up the pieces from her much-talked about separation and is attempting to reclaim her acting career.
LisaRaye (previously known as LisaRaye McCoy-Misick) will open up to the world about her complex personal life in a new reality television series on TV One.
The eight-episode series, which was announced during the Television Critics Association late last week, is slated to premiere the spring of 2010.
In an interview earlier this year, the 41-year-old actress told Essence, "I feel like I gave up too much of myself and compromised a bit too much." Her estranged husband is now reportedly facing government corruption charges.
"It's not fair to keep me involved in all this mess that I know nothing about," she added.
The new show follows the Chicago native as she raises her 19-year-old daughter Kai and provides advice to her incarcerated sister, platinum-selling rapper Da Brat -- all while taking care of her ailing mother.
Though LisaRaye said earlier this year that there is a law in Turks and Caicos that requires a couple to remain married for three years before beginning divorce proceedings, Misick (pictured right with his estranged wife in 2006) has announced his desire to get a divorce. He has since been romantically linked to the BET television personality Rocsi.
Filming for the yet-to-be-titled series will begin this fall.

Quite frankly, I'm sick of all these reality shows of people who are boring, self-involved and uninteresting. Why are people so interested in thier vapid existences. And why do they get financially rewarded for them? Television is really going to the dogs and black television even more so!!! Her crassness and vulgarity was insulting to the people of Turks and Caicos and they are well to be rid of her. Everytime I read about the career she gave up I laugh hilariously. Maybe if she wasn't such a frigging gold digger she would have worked for the money she wanted instead of trying to marry it!!!!!

He chose her! A lot of the people commenting here don't seem to be able to comprehend that. If she wanted to go and find someone who would just take care of her without her having to work she could have done what half the wives of most black male celebrities do - yes, I'm talking about the ones who are black. Just looking at how that loser's life turned should be enough to tell you that his plans were to do stupid shit in the first place. Now, people want to come here and stand behind what he did wrong when he was too lazy to stand up and do it right from the beginning.
For those of you who expect people not to see how clear a case of some guy doing shady things to get power he can't handle, leaving nothing but destruction in his wake - get a life.

I just don't understand what people see in LisaRaye. She really can't act. Her voice is so flat. Everything she says sounds exactly the same. I really don't get it. I also don't feel sorry for her. She married that island guy only for his money. She thought she was about to be Mrs. Turks and Caicos. The problem was nobody in America gave a rats azz about it and the people over there weren't feeling her. The fact is that most people recognize her as being "Diamond" the stripper from "The Player's Club". Her acting in that movie was horrendous. Guys just thought she was cute and ugly females wanted to be her. We need to get real when we pick our role models. Now I don't know her personally and she may be a wonderful lady but I'm sorry she cannot act.

I question her sanity in wanting to sign onto one of these shows. Hasn't she noticed that most if not all of the "stars" of these shows are either upstarts trying to get their foot in the door or on the flip side, has-beens trying to garner any& all attention (even if it's bad)to jump start failing/ailing careers? So since she's not a newbie to the entertainment industry I guess we know what category she falls in, huh? And just as a sidenote: I really liked her in the tv show "all of us"...I was sorry to see it cancelled. It really showed her progression as an actor, she held her own towards the end of the series, so I don't agree with other people who say she can't act, I think she has gotten infinitely better than at the beginning of her career and can act better than some others I could name.

I wonder if LisaRaye discussed her days on probation in Cook County with the Queen?
