R&B crooner Chris Brown was sentenced to five years' probation and six months' community labor for assaulting his girlfriend, pop star Rihanna. He was also ordered to stay away from Rihanna for the next five years.Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg told the Jive Records singer that he could be sent to state prison if he violates any terms of his sentence, including an order to stay 100 yards away from the Def Jam Records chart topper unless they're attending the same music industry event.
According to the Associated Press, a probation report prepared for Tuesday's sentencing described two previous violent incidents: the first happened about three months before the February beating while the couple was traveling in Europe. Rihanna allegedly slapped Brown during an argument, and he shoved her into a wall. In the second instance, Brown allegedly broke the front and passenger side windows on a Range Rover they were driving while visiting Rihanna 's home country of Barbados.
Neither attack was reported, the probation report stated.
Brown, 20, plans to serve out his sentence in his home state -- Virginia -- and his community labor will be overseen by the police chief in Richmond.
Schnegg said she wanted to ensure he performs physical labor instead of community service (such as mentoring young people). Brown will also undergo a year of domestic-violence counseling.
Rihanna did not attend Tuesday's sentencing.

She needs to stay away from him! That's what the charges should be. Angel? Far from it... angels don't have nipple piercings!!
She's a violent person, we all know that men and women from the "islands" are very tempermental.
Drake has gone on record saying he likes older women, he better watch out before "Rhi Rhi" kicks his butt.

I don't agree....I think sometimes we make mistakes..my man hit me once like 20 years ago never again. I have put my hands on him and you have remorse and move on. Rihanna slapped him and should never had taken his phone....don't go looking in folks' phones etc unless you are prepared to deal with what you see.....I still think something is missing and because he is a black male he got played. Now if you are hitting each other daily or all the time that is an issue.

"Because he's a black male he got played"???!!!
Because he is a Celeb, he got a slap on the wrist. It is Rihanna (Whom I do not care for but will defend because your statement was so retarded that we are all dumber for having read it) that got played. It is the good people of his city and State that trusted that judge to do his JOB that got played.
A person attacks another person, they then go to jail. That is how it works for everyone else. It doesn't matter if they are Black, green, red, white or blue. Then they get probation-after they get out.
But noooooo, he's special(not) he can sing. Therefore the rules are different for him. He get's to go pick up trash on the side of the road for a little while. Oh, and let's not forget the "special allowance" the judge made for him BECAUSE he is a celeb. He get's to violate his restraining order for award shows. What the hell?
He is violent. His violence escalates each time. He beat his last girlfriend, and his beat Rihanna twice that we know of. Why? Becaue she found out he was cheating on her!
He's a scumbag that think's it's ok to beat women, and we know this because he has shown a pattern of it. He is no better then the trash he will be picking up along the highway.
The only SMART thing the judge did was make him do labor and not mentor kids. After all, what's he going to teach them? How to smack a bitch when she get's out of line?
For the record, in the first altracation, she should not have slapped him either. She should have walked away. The second time though, everyone heard him say how he was going to kill her."Now your dead bitch" is pretty clear. She might very well have been if the passers-by and police didn't show up to help her.
Because he's black? Don't make yourself sound so stupid. He wasn't black or white in court that day. He was dollar signs. $$

the beating that rih rih took was pure rage...that BOY needs therapy and kudos to the judge for making sure he gets it.
after witnessing what happened to his own mother he should be ashamed of himself..yea yea he apologized but it didn't seem sincere to me..too many celebs are getting off with slaps on the hand, its time they were held accountable for their actions.

Chris,
Lesson learned. Dont repeat this event. Rihanna, next time, dont touch a man regardless of what you read. You have no right to touch a man just because you are pissed. Lesson learned for both parties. Next.

I use to like this guy. For some reason I cannot reach to that point anymore, whether he apologize or not.A man has to be strong to deal with a female.A woman can really push a man button, and if you are not strong to control yourself, you will snap.A woman will have to know how to control themselve also.A relationship is very fragile, regardless if you are married or not.And it is really up to us to communicate on a level that is rewarding on both ends.I am hoping he will learn from all these events, and be a better man for the future.
