R&B crooner Chris Brown was sentenced to five years' probation and six months' community labor for assaulting his girlfriend, pop star Rihanna. He was also ordered to stay away from Rihanna for the next five years.Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg told the Jive Records singer that he could be sent to state prison if he violates any terms of his sentence, including an order to stay 100 yards away from the Def Jam Records chart topper unless they're attending the same music industry event.
According to the Associated Press, a probation report prepared for Tuesday's sentencing described two previous violent incidents: the first happened about three months before the February beating while the couple was traveling in Europe. Rihanna allegedly slapped Brown during an argument, and he shoved her into a wall. In the second instance, Brown allegedly broke the front and passenger side windows on a Range Rover they were driving while visiting Rihanna 's home country of Barbados.
Neither attack was reported, the probation report stated.
Brown, 20, plans to serve out his sentence in his home state -- Virginia -- and his community labor will be overseen by the police chief in Richmond.
Schnegg said she wanted to ensure he performs physical labor instead of community service (such as mentoring young people). Brown will also undergo a year of domestic-violence counseling.
Rihanna did not attend Tuesday's sentencing.

"ONCE A WOMAN BEATER, ALWAYS A WOMAN BEATER" Ummmmm, not true. This I KNOW. My husband's father was very abusive to him and his mother. I mean bust-you-in-the-head with-the-butt-of-a-gun abusive. So guess what happened? He became abusive. His own mother told me how he would beat up on his girlfriends. Push em' down the stairs and stuff like that. He tried me once. Pushed me in the shoulder. I showed him the 1st time, I ain't even that chick. I WILL ruin you. Let there be no doubt. I called them folks to pick that ass up. And had a good talk with him after HIS MOMMA bailed him out. I will leave yo ass. We can talk, argue till we blue in the face but if you don't want to loose me and a body part, keep your damn hands to yourself. And my mom made it even cleared. I never told my dad or my brother cuz I knew I would be planning my husband's funeral. I said all that to say this. If a man is beating you, it is YOUR fault for not loving yourself enough to know you don't deserve that. A man can only do to a woman what she allows. I know that for certain. We have gotten into some HEATED fights. But never has another hand been raised to me. I am sure there has been times he's wanted to but either he loves me enough not to or he hates jail enough not to. Either way, he knows what's good for him.

I too agree he should've gotten jail time, that way he truly would've been remorseful and learned a lesson.

Everytime I hear Chris Brown music on the radio, all I can think of is how he "BEAT" Rhianna. Those pictures said everything I needed to know, he'd better be glad it wasn't my daughter.

Rihanna should have kepted her damn hands to herself. I do not think its right what Chris Brown did but, she hit him 1st. Stay out the kitchen if you cant take the heat. He should have called the cops on her and ruined her career. Ive seen girls go abuse crazy on guys and they just stand there and take it. I understand you have to be a man and all but dang, Who likes to be hit and slapped? Most girls do it because they dont think the male will hit them back.....well personally, i believe in an eye for an eye.....

I hear people saying that he should have called the cops when she hit him...nothing would have happened. Everyone thought it was funny when Lionel Richie's ex-wife Brenda went postal because she knew Martial Arts - that's a double standard. I'm a man who has experienced this. A woman cut my arm...I still have the deep scar...I called 911...the police officials did nothing. This woman was taller & bigger than I....and they took it lightly. Nothing happened to this woman whatsoever. I know that the policemen want to be judge, jury & executioner (well..we all know about the last part) and they stated that it was 'self defense'....right on the spot...so this whole thing protecting these abusive women is a joke. Now...I'm not turning my back on anyone or anything....I have a daughter & wouldn't tolerate it...and I'm going to instill into her head that she is not mentally, verbally or physically abusive to anyone, nor they to her....she has to treat people like she wants to be treated...some of these people still don't understand that.

I hope all the women who feel sorry for Chris Brown get the opportunity to look and feel the way Rihanna must have felt after she was brutalized; then they will see the disproportionality, the unequal damage that a man can cause, without breaking a sweat, compared to what a woman's slap can cause. Good luck to all you idiots, and I hope you get it, too. Seeing the mentality here, you'd probably enjoy it, thinking it's a sick form of love.
