One of the soap opera world's favorite characters is making a return this fall, but it won't be with the actor who originated the role.
According to Soap Opera Digest, a casting call has been put out for the role of Malcolm Winters, which was played by hunky actor Shemar Moore during the 1990s.The part is a big one to fill for whoever is chosen. Moore – a former model – won a Daytime Emmy Award for the role before transitioning successfully into movies (Tyler Perry's 'Diary of a Mad Black Woman') and television ('Soul Train' and 'Criminal Minds'). He played the part for six years and reprised it again in 2004 before leaving the following year.
During a 2005 interview with The RU Report, the Oakland-bred actor credited Perry for helping him break out of the soap opera stud mold. "There were powers to be that did not want me in 'Diary,' and I take my hat off to Tyler Perry. He went to bat for me. He saw something in me. I don't know why and where it started, but I thank him profusely for the opportunity."
About working on 'Y&R,' the five-time NAACP Image Award winner said: "The soap has given me life in Hollywood, but it's also what's hindering me from progressing. I'm not knocking the soaps, but the soaps carry a certain stigma in this game."
It's unclear if Moore was unavailable or whether the show is simply looking to recast the role for storyline or budget reasons, the magazine reported. Whatever the case, Malcolm Winters is expected to return in November.

Yes! Mr. Moore is one of the most beautiful people in the celebrity world today.
I have casually met him on several occassions, and he is so down to earth, kind, and modest!
I have watched Y&R for over 15 years, and I miss him and the stunningly gorgeous (and sweet, as well), Ms. Victoria Rowell! I know she is busy being a new bride, but DANG! I miss "Drucilla"!
I will be G L U E D to my TV when "Malcolm" returns!YAY!!!!!

I remember when I met him twice. I met him at my local mall, where they had the actress Sharon (Nick's Wife), and some other actor on General Hospital. I remember my son yelling in the crowd by the stage where they were all standing, "Malcolm, can you give my mom your phone number"? He yelled back to my son in front of everybody, "Hold on little man". The crowd was laughing. My son, knew that I loved me some Malcolm.
A year later, I got the opportunity to meet him at local club and he was in the V.I.P. section. I went up to him where it was roped off with his shirt all open and lookin sexy as ever, and said to him, "do you remember my son yelling to you at the mall a year ago saying, "Malcolm can you give my mom your number"? Malcolm said, "I said, "I'm sorry, I can't remember"? But he said to me, "You are beautiful". I said to him, "Thank You", and I am your #1 FAN!!!! He then, kissed my hand not once but TWICE and gave me this sexy smile!!!! :-) I was in HEAVEN!!!!!!
Then it all ended because, this knuckle head Body Guard, told me to step back and I had to say good-bye? I wished Malcolm could have invited me in the V.I.P. section? I was disappointed just watching him enjoy himself dancing in the V.I.P. and having a good time? At least I got sweet kisses on my hand. I hope too, that he come back on the Young & The Restless. He is a talented, handsome, and a intelligent man.

I personally would love to look at Shemar Moore everyday on Y & R, however, I know that he has moved on in his acting career. God bless him and good luck!!

I think Seemar Moore is really a natural and gifted actor...I can understand the stigma (of daytime soaps) but what he don't understand is that his fans would love to have him back for maybe three or four episodes from time to time, that would quench his fans thirst for at least a little while!
Mr Moore look at it from your fans standpoint...you made us fall in love with Malcolm, and while we love you on Criminal Minds (you're the only reason I watch) we would still like to you as Malcolm...one more time.
