The CW Network has pulled the plug on the Ashton Kutcher-produced series 'The Beautiful Life: TBL' after only two weeks on the airwaves.Talk about quick, fast and in a hurry.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the show is the first of fall's new crop to be canceled, premiering to just 1.5 million viewers and 1 million viewers this week.
Starring 'The O.C.'s' star Mischa Barton, and 'High School Musical' hottie Corbin Bleu, the series followed the lives of young models in New York City.
The network pulled out all the stops with a massive advertising campaign, which depicted the show's stars in what appeared to be nude.
The eye-catching propaganda apparently didn't help get eyeballs on the screen.
The CW is the same notorious network that abruptly pulled the plug on the long-running and popular Mara Brock-Akil-produced sitcoms 'Girlfriends' and 'The Game.' Even after a groundswell of grassroots and viral support from fans, the latter series wasn't considered for the new season's line-up because programming executives decided they were moving towards more dramatic programming.
Well, save the drama for your mama -- because apparently no one else was watching 'The Beautiful Life: TBL.'
The mainstream chickens may be coming home to roost for the programming executives there, but it can't ever said that they aren't equal opportunity terminators.
In the meantime, the newly repackaged 'Melrose Place' will begin re-running Wednesdays at 9 pm beginning Sept. 30.
Blackvoices.com's Wilson Morales caught up to Bleu this weekend, while he was promoting his new movie 'Free Style' at the W Hotel in New York City. The Brooklyn native said learning the news was "surprising.""{We were] on the set when the announcement was made," he shared. "I was lucky enough to have the last scene of the day; actually the last scene of the show ... When I came out, people were screaming that we had been canceled."
"It was a wonderful experience and I got to work with some wonderful people, he added. "I got a chance to show my audience that I can do something different ... I've always been raised to move on. You can't linger on that. You can only do your best work. I believe the road takes you where it takes you. Now I have the opportunity to do more films."
With Labor Day weekend behind us, people across America are heading back inside to tune into the latest shows on television. Luckily, Black Voices has a sneak peek at some of this season's hottest shows with our very own TV guide. Check it out!
