After weeks of speculation and an evasive Tweet last week, stating; "The Wait Is Ova. Nov. 23 09." Rihanna has officially announced that her long-awaited, highly-anticipated album 'Rated R' will hit stores on Nov. 23.
Not one to disappoint on her 'R' rating, the multiplatinum Barbados-born singer-model released the album's first single, 'Russian Roulette,' on Tuesday morning via her Web site and radio outlets.
The ballad's risqué, dark content, and rather disturbing fatal ending, will leave many questioning the pop star's new musical direction.
"I've heard a good majority of the album ... world, get ready," affirms her pal Ne-Yo, who told 'MTV News' of Rihanna's new album sound. "That's all I'm going to say. World, get ready."
"The best and safest way I can say this is that Rihanna has some stuff to say and she's going to say it," he continued, "and she ain't going to make no apologies for it."
In addition to collaborating with the 'Take A Bow' songstress on her previous two albums, Ne-Yo also helms songwriting duties on 'Rated R,' including 'Russian Roulette.'
Other producers and writers featured on 'Rated R' include The-Dream, Tricky Stewart, Chase & Status, Stargate and Justin Timberlake.
The video for 'Russian Roulette' is expected to premiere during prime time on ABC.

It looks like Rhianna is going in the wrong direction in music and self! She is following in the footsteps and image like that Lady Gaga? Does she think that dressing less and looking inappropriate, and sending this type of message in her songs is OK? If you are beautiful, you don't have to dress inappropriate just to get attention? Your talent should speak for itself. But to tell you the truth, I don't think she can sing all like that and is where she is because of her looks!
'Russian Roulette,' what a title for an album? Before she was posing in a Mag being in bondage, whips, muzzled, ect.. Now, she is in "Barbed Wire" and half naked? What message is she trying to send out? You have young youths looking up to her and want to be like her. These artist, care nothing but themselves! Forget RESPECT and being classy, worthy, ect... I just hope somebody will talk some sense into this girl so that she can get on the right path? You can have the $$$$ and FAME and still be UN HAPPY and not PROSPEROUS in areas in yor life! That is the TRUTH! I say, be true to your self, true to others, be thankful, and humble!

She is obviously in a dark place in her life. (loving someone and finding out that they are not the person for you) So it is natural that she would turn to dark music right now. It is nothing unusual Mary J blige mad a whole career of it. I can relate becasue bad things happen to good people all the time. My concern would be if she stayed in this dark place too long. Lets see the next album before we start to judge her.
