Grammy Award winning R&B supergroup Boyz II Men (l-r Wanya Morris, Shawn Stockman and Nathan Morris) were on hand for the official debut of Princess Tiana (of the forthcoming animated movie 'The Princess and the Frog') at the Magic Kingdom in Lake Buena Vista, Florida on Oct. 26, 2009. The former Motown Records hit-makers visited the world's most famous amusement destination as part of Disneyworld's annual Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, where they performed a string of hits during the "Eat to the Beat" event. Earlier in the day, the 'End of the Road' singers helped welcome Princess Tiana during her theme park debut, which included an official procession, a New Orleans-inspired second line parade, and a 15 minute musical presentation. It's not "all Disney". The site you are on refers to it as an historical event and Boyz II Men endorse it. And Disney is doing this because they know this is what blacks want ... to pretend they have a rich history just like whites. It reminds me of the movie "Coming to America" where the black prince came from a fictional African kingdom that where everyone dressed as Europeans, when the true facts about black Africa is that it was and remains the most backward place on Earth.

It is not what I want. We already have Princesses dressed in clothing from all over the world because we exist all over the world. sigh. The garb is most likely to make 'you' feel comfortable.

One thing Blacks don't need to do is "pretend" to have a rich history. The contributions and accomplishments of blacks in this country and abroad is vast, in every area imaginable from the sciences, engineering, medicine, arts, military, sports, entertainment, etc. and oftentimes even when dealing w/folk like you, they not only succeed but exceed. Every country and nationality has it's share of disapointing, shameful acts to humanity. Europeans have more than enough to go around so, before you decide to camofloge yourself like a coward behind e-mail to spew your negativity, educate and inform yourself so you can converse intellegently. Start with reading 'Before the Mayflower' "better to remain silent and have others 'think' you a fool than to open your mouth and prove them right".

Bill, you have serious issues. How can you take a Disney event and turn it completely upside down and make it racial. If you did not like it all that you had to do was to stop watching. The negative comments were not called for.

African garb? She is from New Orleans. Her clothing looks appropriate for the region.

Even the 'ingnorant among us have a flash of wisdom. I partially agree with Bill but from a different perspective. Disney still doesn't 'get it.' As far as i am concerned they are not sincere in their attempt at diversity in their PRINCESSES. I don't get A black princess (dressed in european garb) featured in a European fairy tale? Struting down the streen in a New Orleans style parade, dancing like she is in a club? Why not take an authentic african, carribean, etc., fable or story; a perfect example 'Mufaro's Beautiful Daughters.' like Pocahantas is native amer. and looks and dressesit; Jasmine, Arabian ..looks it, dresses it etc. Mufaro has all the elements of a Disney princess movie. Disneys attempt at pacifying the black community is weak
