Tyler Perry: Taking 'Meet the Browns' National

In today's Tyler Perry news, the persevering black movie maverick has managed to ink a deal with television syndication company Debmar-Mercury to broadcast syndicate his TBS comedy series 'Meet the Browns.'

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Lionsgate owned company has cleared the sitcom in more than 70% of the U.S. for a September debut through cash-plus-barter deals with several major station groups, including Fox, Tribune, and CBS.

Not bad, considering the hit show is ranked number one amongst TBS viewers aged.

"As we proved with 'House of Payne,' viewers are hungry for fresh episodes of quality sitcoms in syndication, and as the fast pace of clearances indicates, stations know they can depend on Tyler Perry to deliver them," said Debmar-Mercury co-president Ira Bernstein.

Due to Debmar-Mercury's current business model, the syndication launch of 'Meet the Browns' is slated to happen 15 months following its premiere on TBS.
