Despite previous reports stating that Ashley "A.J." Jewell, who gained attention appearing on the hit Bravo reality series 'Real Housewives of Atlanta' this summer, died from a pre-existing bout with sickle-cell anemia, relatives of the fallen Atlanta native are requesting that a second autopsy take place.
A spokesman for Jewell's relatives told E! News that the former club owner did not have sickle-cell anemia, which was the cause of death according to Fulton County Associate Medical Examiners.
"The decision of course was a difficult one for the family, because any time you consider exhuming a loved one, it's always a difficult decision," said family spokesman Rev. Mark Hutchins. "In this case, the family has not been satisfied with the outcome of the first autopsy.
"It is an extremely rare occurrence that someone would have a sickle-cell crisis if they did not have sickle-cell disease," he added. "
The fiancé of former Xscape member, Kandi Burruss, died from a severe blow during an Oct. 2 altercation at Atlanta strip club Body Tap. The Atlanta hot spot was co-owned by Jewell.

first of all there is no way that he could have had sickle-cell and not have known a crisis is severe pain and there are also other complications when a person has sicle-cell. he has several children and they all would have been tested and contracted the sickle cell trait at birth hewould have had to had the illness from birth there is noway he he could get it later. you are born with the illness and both of his arents would have to at least have the trait giving him the full disease so there would be no way he could have it and no one knew at his age he would fo certain have had an crisis by now.

It is impossible for an adult to all of sudden be diagnosed with sickle cell anemia. He would have been diagnosed as a child with this blood disorder. I don't blame the family at all for wanting further testing.
