Whitney Houston: A Cover Girl Again & Offering Insight to Instyle

Iconic singer Whitney Houston, who became one of the first African American women to grace the cover of Seventeen magazine in 1980, is a cover girl once more. Houston, who made her comeback this year, is featured on the January issue of InStyle magazine.

The six-time Grammy Award winner opens up about being a sex symbol at age 46 and raising her daughter, Bobbi Kristina.

"Sexy can be sexual without having to expose a lot of yourself. Your body can express a lot without you having to take off a lot. I try to splash it in there a little bit, just by body movement. A smile, a little glance, the way you lean back says sexy without being too open or offending anyone," the 'Bodyguard' star told the monthly fashion mag.

She added, "Once they've seen it all, they go, 'man, I'm bored with that,' instead of 'hmmm, what's she going to do now?'"

Houston attributes a lot of her success this year to remaining focused. And that includes raising her teen daughter. "If she's angry, I allow her to say, 'Damn! I'm so frustrated today!'"

The 'I Look to You' singer revealed that mother and daughter have moments when they clash, but that overall, they have a good relationship. "No damnation, no condemnation, [there is] nothing that's going to make her feel like she can't come to me," the superstar mom said.

Houston might not have scored a Grammy nomination for her comeback record 'I Look To You,' but, to date, it has sold more than 831,000 copies in the United States alone.

She plans to set out on a tour sometime in 2010.

The January issue of InStyle magazine hits newsstands this week.

According to a rep for the Time Inc.-owned magazine, that issue will also include a behind-the-scenes look at Houston's long-awaited music videos.
