Iconic singer Whitney Houston, who became one of the first African American women to grace the cover of Seventeen magazine in 1980, is a cover girl once more. Houston, who made her comeback this year, is featured on the January issue of InStyle magazine.
The six-time Grammy Award winner opens up about being a sex symbol at age 46 and raising her daughter, Bobbi Kristina.
"Sexy can be sexual without having to expose a lot of yourself. Your body can express a lot without you having to take off a lot. I try to splash it in there a little bit, just by body movement. A smile, a little glance, the way you lean back says sexy without being too open or offending anyone," the 'Bodyguard' star told the monthly fashion mag.
She added, "Once they've seen it all, they go, 'man, I'm bored with that,' instead of 'hmmm, what's she going to do now?'"
Houston attributes a lot of her success this year to remaining focused. And that includes raising her teen daughter. "If she's angry, I allow her to say, 'Damn! I'm so frustrated today!'" The 'I Look to You' singer revealed that mother and daughter have moments when they clash, but that overall, they have a good relationship. "No damnation, no condemnation, [there is] nothing that's going to make her feel like she can't come to me," the superstar mom said.
Houston might not have scored a Grammy nomination for her comeback record 'I Look To You,' but, to date, it has sold more than 831,000 copies in the United States alone.
She plans to set out on a tour sometime in 2010.
The January issue of InStyle magazine hits newsstands this week.
According to a rep for the Time Inc.-owned magazine, that issue will also include a behind-the-scenes look at Houston's long-awaited music videos.

You should spend more time being hooked on phonics instead of bashing the First Lady! You are an uneducated fool! Blame your ignorance on the Bush administration, because the public school system failed you miserably!!!

No really, I have never heard a someone say that aout a black woman before Oh really!! LMAO. She has a very angular face that my dear is symmetry, and good bone structure. You are so obviously uneducated and unsophisticated that I would rather not subject you to any more insults. I think being you is an insult, to the human race and to yourself. It must be hard being this stupid.

Well, it really doesn't matter what you think of Our First Lady . She is living her life in a positive and productive manner. What is your excuse for your existence?

While there can be no question that Michelle Obama is a hideous beast whose Sasquatch impersonation makes Venus Williams look feminine, I too am having trouble comprehending why you chose to comment on Mrs. Obama, rather than the subject of this forum, Whitney Houston.
I am glad to see Whitney reclaiming some of her former class. Her voice is wonderful and so is her smile.
I can't help but wonder why the article refers to her as being "African-American". I hadn't realized that she was from Africa.
When one feels the need to "Hyphenate" their American identity, they aren't truly "American" at all. For instance, when I refer to my nationality, I do not call myself "European-American", nor "White-American", etc. I am simply, an "American".
If Africa is your choice, your priority, even though you've never been there and aren't from there, well....there are planes and ships leaving the USA for Africa every day, I suggest you take advantage of that fact.
Again, GOOD FOR WHITNEY HOUSTON. Her voice reminds me of a finely tuned, exquisitely made intrument, although the decades of crack smoking have obviously taken a toll on her overall lung capacity and ability to project from her diaphram as she used to, she is still very good at what she does.
