'Divorce Court,' which is in its eleventh season on television, is taking a more hands-on approach to keeping married couples out of legal warfare.
On Jan.15, 'Divorce Court: An Evening with Judge Lynn Toler' will take place at the historic Alabama Theatre in Birmingham, Alabama.
There, the judge, who has been married for 20 years, will give relationship advice to real couples in various stages of their lives. Toler will also discuss her "mother rules" on life, the topic of divorcing well and provide a before-you-take-your-vows conversation to help prepare couples for successful long-term relationships.
"I am concerned about the current state of marriage, especially as it relates to the family and kids," Toler, who hosted the syndicated show since 2006, said. "On 'Divorce Court' I am usually focused on damage control."
Birmingham is significant for the kick-off because 'Divorce Court' came in as the #1 court program during the May sweeps in that city.
According to the show's executive producer Mark Koberg, there are designs underway to bring Toler to more cities within the near future.
"Taking the 'Divorce Court' experience on the road allows me to get out in front of the relationship problems and advise couples early when it can really have some benefit -- and in a forum that is not full of screaming people," the Harvard University educated judge added.
Tickets are $20 each and are available at Ticketmaster.
'Divorce Court,' which now has completed over two thousand episodes, was just renewed through the 2011-2012 season.

I like her as well.... she's knows the law, and she is a no-nonsense woman, but she has a sense of humor too. Also, I like the fact that she is not biased, if you are wrong you are wrong, male or female.
I just about choked on my coffee when she called this woman 'stupid', she said she didn't like using that term/word, BUT this woman was divorcing her husband because he was....get this: TOO NICE

I agree...Judge Maybelline is great. I was going for a divorce back in 2004 and we got picked to be on the show. They wanted a funny one and my now ex and I gave it to them....Had the most fun doing that than in any other part of our 16 year marriage...

Judge Mabline was too mean and had a very bad attitude, the producers was glad they couldn't come to an agreement renewing her contract. Her attitude was horrible with her guests and was getting worse by the day. I'm so glad she's not the Judge anymore because she's not fit for TV period...Thank GOD she's gone!

I stopped watching it. She's unfair towards men. She comes down hard on the men but is always easy on the women. When it's time for her show, I switch the tv to The Brady Bunch.
