Another one bites the dust.
Just one month after Oprah Winfrey announced she would be ending her 25-year reign as the most influential talk show host of all time, Tyra Banks said she plans to throw in the towel as well.
The 36-year-old model-turned-media-mogul tells People magazine, '"This will be the last season of 'The Tyra Show.'"
In an open letter on her Website, Banks writes, "There's a lot cooking right now and a lot of fire burning in my heart, and I salute you, my amazing family of viewers; without you, there never would have been a 'Tyra Show.' I really love you all."
Banks plans to focus on launching her film company, Bankable Studios, and develop additional women-centric programs. The new move is said to have come at the encouragement of 'Precious' producers Tyler Perry and Winfrey, who, according to an insider, "gave Tyra the confidence to get out there and follow her longtime dream of film producing."
"My next steps will allow me to reach more women and young girls to help us all feel as fierce as we truly are," Banks said.
Her hit talk show, which has won two Emmy Awards, will end its five-year run in the spring of 2010.
Banks will remain the host and a producer on her highly successful CW reality competition 'America's Next Top Model,' which returns for its 15th season in February. She will also continue her work on ABC's 'True Beauty,' a show she co-created.

This might be a bad move. She doesn't have that much movie experience, to just start producing all willy nilly. I wish her luck though.

I'm glad because she catered to white folks any way. She did a homeless show a couple of yeas ago and she found no black homeless people - there were white - latino - mexican homeless people that she helped get off the street

Awwww, grow the fluck up and stop with the stupid, hood-rat comments. You appear very ignorant.

@ AntBee. YOU are the one who sounds ignorant. Anyone who would use that term "hoodrat" is probably speaking from their own personal experience of being one. This site is called BLACKVOICES. True or false, charges of Tyra and Oprah's TV shows lack of concern for Black people is relevant.
In my opinion neither one of these shows Tyra or Oprah had any real substance. No real lost for black people.

And, that is the problem. It is YOUR opinion.
Anyone who would make such an ignorant remark or even have that type of racist mindset is simply IGNORANT.
You act like the shows Oprah and Tyra does have no importance to BLACK FOLK! How stupid! The shows are geared to ALL HUMAN BEINGS who seek information. Both ladies have done many shows that address the concerns of BLACK PEOPLE.
You need to get out more, emerge from your immediate community and wake the the fluck up!
And, yes, I use the term HOOD-RAT to describe anyone with a racist, limited mentality which you and the OP certainly seem to fit the term, based on your dumb comments.

Well, she always followed in Oprah's footsteps, and copy Oprah in whatever she did, so this is not news.
Good Luck.

Tyra,
Good Luck to you and may God and Christ continue to light your way. I think it's a great idea that you are heeding the advice of those whose success have preceded yours. And as everyone knows, everything that Oprah touches and invests in turns into gold, so Go For The Gold! I will miss your show; I think it is positive for all of us esp young girls.
Wishing you the Best.
