Keyshia Cole is breaking her silence about her estranged relationship with her family members, who have become 'hood celebrities since being introduced to the public via their top-rated BET reality TV show, 'The Way It Is.'
In a statement obtained by BV Newswire, the platinum-selling R&B singer set the record straight, essentially saying that her outspoken family members – including mother Frankie Lons, sister Nefferteria Pugh and other sister Elite (last name unknown) – are not authorized to speak about details of her life, because they don't know any.
"It's time that I clear the air," Cole stated. "It's not a secret that I haven't been in contact with my mother Frankie, and my sisters, Neffe and Elite, and I never wanted to air out our differences to the public. While I won't go into detail here, I find it necessary to let you guys know I decided to stop communication with them because I was at a point in my life where I needed serenity and peace to move forward.""Please know I love my family very much, but it was time to let it go," she said. "You guys are a witness to a lot of what was happening from watching on air and online."
She continued: "Now that I am becoming a mom, my passion for having a loving and peaceful home for my child is my number one priority. It's very important to both Daniel [Gibson] and I. My plate is very full; I have a new baby coming, we are planning our wedding and I am working in the studio on a new album that I am close to completing."
"The stress that my family is giving me with their constant false reports is not healthy and it's not what I need at this time in my life," she added.
Earlier this week, several media gossip outlets reported that Gibson, a professional basketball player, and Cole are engaged.
The next day, Lons, known as a real live wire among black celebrity bloggers and radio outlets, was interviewed on an Atlanta radio station and confirmed that her daughter was indeed married to Gibson
"Please understand that there are only a few people that can officially confirm or deny anything that's happening in my life, and that's me, Daniel, and my publicist, Tresa Sanders," Cole stated, then added, "And my girl Monica [the singer, who also has a popular BET reality show] never lies."
With two seasons of 'The Way It Is' breaking ratings records for BET, the network created a spinoff vehicle, 'Frankie & Neffe,' which propelled Cole's family members and all for their dysfunction into the limelight.
A rep for Lons could not be reached by deadline today.
Cole's first child is due in March.

I really feel sorry for the entire family.As we all know,substance abuse,past or present is a bitch.It can tear the best and worst families apart.Even though Keyshia tried to help her family memebers,she had to have known what she was getting herslf into with her biological mother Frankie and her sister Neffee.You cannot help anyone to move past their hurts past and present unless they want to help themselves.They all went into counseling and it still didn't help because they wanted to hold onto the past.In order to have a progressive future you have to let the past go.You won't forget it; however you can move on if you desire and it seems that Neffee still was holding onto past issues with her mother's drug addiction.Frankie made past mistakes as we all have done and did her time in prison.Let it go as Keyshia sang so very well.Let sleeping dogs lie.Keyshia just needs time to know that she can't change anyone;only God can.Turn it over to God and know he will work it all out without her trying to help and things will work out for all involved in the situation.It may not work out the way Keyshia was hoping however it will be for her good.

There comes a point in time when you have to say, "Enough". I can understand Keyshia's thinking, and contrary to what some of yall might think she did NOT use her relatives. if anything, they used HER. I don't think they really cared about her at all, but they saw she had something that they too wanted, but had no clue as to how to obtain it. I honestly believe that Keyshia sincerely wanted to help them and since she was now in a position to do so, she felt that she could make a difference. Having them go to counseling to work out their issues sounds like someone who loves her family dearly and only wanted them all to get along. But IMO, Frankie and Neffe (don't know enough about Elite to comment on her) only wanted fame, recognition and money, and through Keyshia, that's exactly what they got.
They need to thank HER for everything they have right now, or else Frankie would simply continue being the toothless old crackhead she is, turning tricks for money, and screaming and crying-every-minute ass Neffe pushing out babies by random negros to increase her bi-monthly welfare check. Keyshia took care of them; now it's time for her to take care of herself. Good luck to her, her fiance, and her little bun in the oven. The best to them.
