Oprah Winfrey: Opens Up the Floor for Jay Leno Interview

Less than a week ago, Conan O'Brien ended his bittersweet relationship with NBC as host of 'The Tonight Show.' O'Brien's predecessor, Jay Leno, has been relatively quiet since news broke of O'Brien's abrupt departure, but the stand-up comedian decided to voice his opinion on Thursday's episode of 'The Oprah Winfrey Show.'

When asked by the media mogul whether he had talked to O'Brien since announcing his return to late night, Leno simply replied, "I haven't talked to him through all this. It didn't seem appropriate." Adding that, "I don't know, I think, let things cool down and maybe we'll talk, you know?"

In the weeks leading up to the exit of his seven-month stint, O'Brien threw numerous jabs not only at NBC but at Leno's decision to move back into his original time slot. Despite being on the receiving end of the verbal assault, Leno doesn't seem too fazed by the public scrutiny.

"It's what we do, you know," he said. "You can't -- it's like being a fighter and, say, when you got punched in the head, did it hurt? Well, yeah, but you're a fighter. That's what you do."

NBC reportedly inked a $45 million deal with O'Brien that prohibits him from hosting another show until Sept. 1. 'The Jay Leno Show' will end Feb. 9, and Leno will resume his late-night spot on March 1, following the Winter Olympics.
