Say goodbye to Vanessa Williams' NAACP and Teen Choice award-winning character Wilhelmina Slater on 'Ugly Betty.'
The hit ABC dramedy series, which debuted in 2006, is getting axed.
It seems the move from Wednesday to Friday hasn't helped ratings for 'Betty.'
The show's producers and the network announced a joint statement on Jan. 27, which read:
"We've mutually come to the difficult decision to make this Ugly Betty's final season, and are announcing now as we want to allow the show ample time to write a satisfying conclusion."
"We are extremely proud of this groundbreaking series, and felt it was important to give the fans a proper farewell."
In addition to the news of the cancellation, the last season will have only 20 episodes instead of 22.
In its four seasons, 'Ugly Betty' received multiple Emmy Award nominations.
The show's breakout star, America Ferrera, won an Emy in 2007 for outstanding leading actress.

This show should be picked up by another network. Moving it to Friday is what killed the show. It belongs on cable anyway. The networks are lost.

UNBELIEVABLE!!!Networks always move the shows with minorities on it to Fridays so that the ratings go
down and they can cancel it!!!!

That is so true! When a network wants to get rid of a show (especially those shows involving minorities), they move it to either Friday or Saturday nights because they know no ones gonna be home.

Since 'Ugly Betty' was a well written show it should be cancelled. Afterall it was highly populated with Blacks, Hispanics, Jews, Gays, youths and New Yorkers. Moving it to network on Friday nights was the producers method of producing the viewers lost!

GLAD IT'S GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sorry about the stars who will lose their jobs but they will find other jobs....they will be just fine....
i never liked the title of the show from day one....BECAUSE NO ONE IS UGLY......GOD DON'T MAKE NOTHIN' UGLY.....
webster's dictionary defines UGLY as FRIGHTFUL, HIDEOUS, MONSTROUS.....
we have to stop using this word.....it's a terrible 4 letter word that kids use to tease other kids and it hurts.....kids have committed suicide or have killed others because they were being teased....
kids can be cruel....then they grow up using this word and become CRUEL ADULTS......and it's sad...laughing at others because they don't fit your criteria of BEAUTY....
I SAY IT AGAIN...GOD DON'T MAKE NOTHIN' UGLY!!!!!

It's just a show title! Its very apparent that you MAY not be that attractive.
Besides downing the show title, have you really watched the show? Are you familiar with the overall concept/plot, or characters? If so, comment on that. If you don't like the show for those reasons, then thats your opinion not to like it. It seems you are criticizing the show based on the title mostly.
