Say goodbye to Vanessa Williams' NAACP and Teen Choice award-winning character Wilhelmina Slater on 'Ugly Betty.'

The hit ABC dramedy series, which debuted in 2006, is getting axed.

It seems the move from Wednesday to Friday hasn't helped ratings for 'Betty.'

The show's producers and the network announced a joint statement on Jan. 27, which read:

"We've mutually come to the difficult decision to make this Ugly Betty's final season, and are announcing now as we want to allow the show ample time to write a satisfying conclusion."

"We are extremely proud of this groundbreaking series, and felt it was important to give the fans a proper farewell."

In addition to the news of the cancellation, the last season will have only 20 episodes instead of 22.

In its four seasons, 'Ugly Betty' received multiple Emmy Award nominations.

The show's breakout star, America Ferrera, won an Emy in 2007 for outstanding leading actress.
