Willie Taylor: Day 26 Crooner Opens Up, Gets Free With Valentine's Day 'Sex Tape'

If you watch MTV or cruise the Internet for nude photos of celebrities, you've likely seen a lot of Willie Taylor, who is a member of the platinum-selling R&B group Day 26.

The group's hit reality show 'Making the Band' made the former Bad Boy Records signees household names and Taylor -- a budding singer-songwriter in his own right -- a sex symbol.

But the Illinois native is also a husband and father, two roles he cherishes. And this Valentine's Day, he shares with BV Newswire his take on all things romantic.

"I don't think it's for men. ...It's definitely for women," he said. "It ain't nothing special, just buying your girl some stuff. [It's] a holiday [if] you don't already spend enough money on your woman."

"I'm just getting past 'the Walgreen's stage,' where I bought the flowers, and the candy and balloons," he added. "I'm getting more romantic."

Taylor says he has stepped his game up with trips, rose petals and bubble baths. But one thing he won't do is make love to his own music.

"I can't do stuff to my own music," Taylor said. "It freaks me out. My studio is in my house, and my wife hears the music in creation, so she is probably tired of hearing it."

The 'Imma Put It On Her' singer prefers a popular Midwest tradition, known as Sweetie's Day, over V-Day because men are pampered by their women. "That's our Valentine's Day and the girl buys us some stuff."

Although he won't be bumping his love songs in the bedroom, Taylor is hoping you will. His new mix tape, 'Sex Tape,' which is being released via his Noivak Music Group, can be downloaded for free on Valentine's Day. Taking a cue from Usher's blockbuster album 'Confessions,' the mix tape's 12 songs all focus on one topic: making love to the one you love.

"I'm a songwriter, and that didn't get showcased on the television show. I wanted the world to know that was another passion of mine," said the 28-year-old heartthrob who previously wrote music for Jagged Edge, Joe, Avant and Ginuwine.

"I just figured, 'Let me show the world what I am about,' so I wrote a whole bunch of bedroom records and it's called 'Sex Tape.'

Speaking of sex, one thing Taylor is getting up is the courage to discuss is his nude pictures, which were leaked on the Internet last year.

"It was hard for me to get over that," he said. "That was an embarrassing moment in my life."

"We tried to figure out where they came from," he continued. "I knew the pictures were 4 years old, and those were pictures I sent to my wife when we were recording our first album. I had to understand it's impossible for me to get them off the Internet, [so] I keep it moving. For me, it's all about the music, and I want to steer you away from [the photos] as much as I can."

Day 26, minus ousted group member Quanell "Q" Mosley, has been signed directly to Atlantic Records since Diddy's Bad Boy Records moved to Interscope Records. "We still wish him the best and sometimes before the ship sinks, you have to keep it moving," he said of Mosley's abrupt exit from the group.

Taylor says the group has no plans to replace Q because the group's current size works. And although Taylor's 'Sex Tape' is getting released soon, the group will reunite next week to record some new music for their third album in Atlanta with hit maker Bryan Michael Cox. They are also in negotiations with MTV for another reality show.

Willie Taylor's 'Sex Tape' will be available exclusively on his Web site, www.NoiVakMusic.com, on Valentine's Day.
