Hip hop mogul Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson is consistently proving to fans not to take him for a piece of chump change in Hollywood. In fact, the film industry has managed to keep Jackson as a mainstay among aspiring actors.

The verbal assassin, who made his silver screen debut in 2005's 'Get Rich or Die Tryin,' has scored his latest flick through his independent film company, Cheetah Vision Films: 'Things Fall Apart' directed by Mario Van Peebles.

According to Variety, the project, which also stars Peebles, and Lynn Whitfield, will center around a troubled college football running back, played by Jackson, who faces personal tragedy during his senior year in college.

Judging from Cheetah Vision's goal to self/co-finance three to five films annually, the company appears to be on target. Within the last month Jackson finished production on his eighth film, 'The Gun,' which also stars Val Kilmer and AnnaLynne McCord. His otherfilm credits include, 'Righteous Kill,' Joel Schumacher's 'Twelve,' 'Home of the Brave,' 'Streets of Blood,' 'Dead Man Running,' and 'Before I Self Destruct.'

Making the transition from music to films appears to be a new form of passion for the Queens, New York native. Creating big screen projects allows him to elaborate and express his creative talent more in depth as he explains.

"You have 90 minutes and 120 pages, compared with three minutes for a song," he told Variety. "I've become very passionate about making films."

In the midst of losing 65 pounds for his upcoming grid-iron role, 50 has begun his two-month international tour in Berlin, which will be followed by five weeks of filming 'Things Fall Apart' in May.
