The one and the only Beyoncé continue to use her brand to do some good – for others.On March 5, the international superstar joined her mother Tina Knowles, and New York City politicos Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz to unveil the Beyoncé Cosmetology Center in Brooklyn, New York.
The Beyoncé Cosmetology Center, will offer a seven month cosmetology training program for adult men and women, enabling hundreds of Phoenix House clients to prepare for successful careers in the cosmetology field.
Located in the downtown are of Brooklyn – located at 50 Jay Street, to be exact -- the Phoenix House Career Academy is a residential substance abuse treatment program that offers several fully accredited vocational training programs on-site. Beyonce has a special connection to the co-located treatment and vocational program, which has created a thriving recovery community that empowers and supports students as they work toward their professional and personal goals. For her role as Etta James in 'Cadillac Records,' the L'Oreal spokeswoman researched drug abuse and recovery at Phoenix House.
The 16-time Grammy Award winner also said she dedicated her paycheck from the film to the charity.

For someone that claims Beyonce is dumb, you seem to know alot about her successes and follow her really well from what you posted. Let's not feed into Jadina everyone, she's the type to by a front row seat to go see Beyonce just to hate, not realizing you just paid Beyonce, or her father. I expect to see you at the front of the line to go to the cosmetology school as an avenue to get off your butt posting comments on blackvoices all day.

I believe her heart is in the right place with wanting to accomplish this venture. I highly doubt she'll be teaching any classes her mom perhaps. On a sour note Beyonce and Miss Tina's hair always looks ratty but I digress, I like the fact she wants to help out the community who knows how many cosmotolgist or people get the chance to excell and make a terrific living out of a career they love. It is a great idea. That is creating future jobs. But I thought you have to have 1500 clock hours for cosmetology. So that would be at least 9 to 10 months. Is it different in New York?

I must say some of the comments are really stupid.
Beyonce is trying to do something good, she now lives in NYC so she is trying to give back. A lot
of people in her position would not even bother, they are just consumed with their fame and money.
And all I hear in most of the comments is that B
has not talent etc,etc that is not the point she is trying to help. You see that is the problem with black folks we never try to lift each other up only drag down with jealousy and hate. ..
