Star Jones-Reynolds: Recovering from Cardiac Surgery
Over the weekend, news spread that former television personality Star Jones-Reynolds underwent surgery on March 17.

The New Jersey native has released a statement through her spokesperson and also taken to the Web to let fans know that she is currently feeling better and recovering at home in New York.

Her new procedure was pre-planned and related to a thoracic tumor, which developed three decades ago."This recent surgery is a follow-up to the thoracic surgery she had thirty years ago," a rep told People.com. "The procedure was successful and she is recovering well with her family. Star is grateful for everyone's thoughts and prayers."

Jones-Reynolds, who celebrates her 48th birthday March 24, previously underwent gastric bypass surgery in August 2003.

Though she initially denied having the procedure, in the past few years, she has been more vocal about the surgery -- the reason for her 160 pound weight loss -- most notably on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show.'

The ex-'Insider' correspondent took to social media to express her gratitude for her fans' support.

She frequently talks politics on Twitter and the health care bill's passing on March 21 was no exception: "Can you imagine me trying to recover without health care," she wrote. "Those who voted against it need to hang their heads in shame." She added, "Thank you for all the good wishes and prayers...I feel them all."
