'Real Housewives of Atlanta' star Kim Zolciak's relationship status has consistently been tabloid fodder.

Her married boyfriend (known as "Big Poppa") was the subject of much of the hit Bravo reality series, but she's clearly moved on to the next one.

This go round, her significant other is a woman.

Zolciak is opening up about her new girlfriend DJ Tracy Young in the new issue of Life & Style magazine. The 'Tardy for the Party' singer met Young while remixing her hit song. She says that during their first night together the couple chatted for hours and their relationship blossomed soon thereafter. But, before she could tell her family about Young, pictures of the couple surfaced on the Web.

"I've never denied anything. I don't lie...but I wasn't ready to discuss it when the story broke," she said.

Though she called the way the news broke "unfair," Zolciak feels like now's the right time to share open up about her new love. "To have the opportunity to speak for myself and to have people understand what I'm going through is really special," she said.

"I, myself was confused and scared at first," she added. "Being able to speak from my heart and get this all out, it's a huge relief for me."

"There were sparks, but [physically] it was a gradual situation," Zolciak continued. "Tracy made the first move. Our first kiss was passionate and exciting.

As a parent, the lively blonde didn't discuss whether she told her daughters about her lover.

"I'm among the millions of parents who have been in a gay or lesbian relationship. It hasn't been an easy road lately, but I feel there are no mistakes in my life," Zolciak said.

As previously reported, Bravo has yet to announce whether Zolciak will be back for the third season of 'Real Housewives of Atlanta.' Both Zolciak and her 'Housewives' co-star Nene Leakes were reportedly holding out for more money in contract negotiations with the network.

With this latest news, it's a sure bet that this will add heat to the storyline.
