A few weeks back, R&B starlet Keri Hilson was granted the opportunity to perform the National Anthem at the Atlanta Hawks vs.Los Angeles Lakers basketball game, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
The 'Turnin' Me On' singer was blasted by bloggers for her horrible rendition of the patriotic standard.
The 27 year-old Decatur, Georgia-born beauty admitted to doing a bad job. "I bloopered first time, but of course I know the words to the anthem," she wrote. Hilson blamed the poor performance on "my in-ear pack goin' in/out" and adds that the distraction resulted in her almost singing the first verse over.
Well, lucky for the budding pop star, she was granted another opportunity to sing the national anthem – and this time she got it right.
The Grammy Award-nominated singer/songwriter sang the National Anthem again at the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees baseball season opener game on April 4 and didn't make one mistake.
"It went great. Thank you, Lord," she said.
"Besides nailing [the] Anthem, [the] best part of my night was walking back and people of all ages waved, yelled and clapped forever," Hilson wrote on her Twitter page. "Can't buy a better moment."

Nothing humble about this woman. Why can't she allow the fans to express their appreciation for her performance THEMSELVES instead of HER telling us about the accolades she received after the game.

it's no coincidence that these negative remarks are all coming from other females and you all sound pathetic and sad. it does'nt make it so, just because it's a group of you skanks,saying the same ish, it just show you're jealous catty women hatin' on another sista' (as usual) You can not like this girl all you want, but some of the comments seem really personal like she stole your man or somethin'. It's also interesting to see how hate and envy can impact ones decision or impare ones ability to discern. You skanks lookin thru hateful eyes and seeing this girl one way when it should be more sistahood and comraderie, the truth of the matter is she's actually insecure and was mentioning the feedback she received from her performance as a barometer for whether or not she did good, i.e. confirmation. nothing was arrogant about that at all u idiots. u tramps wanna hate on another sista, get your ish together, stop hatin!

I totally agree with you Carla.
I say too, let the people be the judge. Why is this woman talkin like she is the best singer in the world and she's not! She can't sing worth ISH? Out of all the people in the world, they couldn't get anybody else with a VOICE, a person who is HUMBLE, ENTERTAINING, and RESPECTFUL?

I agree with both of you Carla and DimePiece. No disrespect to this woman, but I never thought she had much talent. Just another pretty face that can’t sing. In fact, I find her extremely boring.
Another thing, someone needs to inform her(like her stylist) that she is always overdressed at music events. Nothing new here.

Hello, she is a great song writer. She is responsible for a whole lot of music that top entertainers put out there as their own. Remember, there are a whole lot of ppl out there getting by but cannot sing too well themselves. It is a the whole package.
