Montreal-based entertainment company Cirque du Soleil is partnering with Michael Jackson's estate to develop touring shows using the late King of Pop's music. They will split development and production costs on the upcoming projects.

In addition to gearing up for an arena touring show expected in late fall of 2011, the deal also calls for a Jackson-themed nightclub in Las Vegas and a permanent Jackson-Cirque du Soleil show making its Sin City debut in late 2012.

Jackson's mother, Katherine, who heads up his estate, released a statement expressing her excitement with the new venture.

"Our family is thrilled that Cirque du Soleil will pay tribute to my son in such an important way," she said.

Cirque President and CEO Daniel Lamarre added they are also working on restaurants "and other experiences and other types of content that we can develop on the brand of Michael Jackson."

A reality television show, which will be a mix between 'American Idol' and 'Dancing With the Stars,' is also being planned. Viewers will help choose the best choreographer to work on the Jackson-Cirque show. The as-yet-untitled competition series is set to debut by year-end.

Jackson died at age 50 in Los Angeles on June 25 of an overdose of powerful prescription medications.
