A month following the announcement of her endorsement deal with Weight Watchers, Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson has already witnessed positive results from the company's products. In the new issue of People magazine, Hudson says that she's "in the best shape" of her life, slimming down from a size 16 to a slender size 6.
The actress's newfound weight loss is also due in part to her forthcoming role as Nelson Mandela's ex-wife in the biopic 'Winnie.' The 28-year-old said she was determined to lose her post-pregnancy weight, noting that she would do "whatever it takes to morph into a character."
"With Weight Watchers, I am enjoying the weight loss because I'm doing it the right way. I feel empowered with what I've learned," she told the weekly just last month. "Everything from portion control to what foods will help keep me satisfied -- it's a lifestyle change, not a diet."
With production set to begin in South Africa on May 31, Hudson's Weight Watchers counselor, Liz Josefsberg, is more than optimistic that the actress will stick to her diet regimen.
"She will need to investigate every new product on this new continent," Josefsberg explained to People. "I am not the least bit worried about Jennifer. ...She is an amazing and resilient personality who will be just fine in her surroundings."
On the heels of her breakout role in 'Dreamgirls,' the former 'American Idol' castoff graced the covers of magazine such as Ebony, Essence and Vogue as the new face of big and beautiful. Now, she's on People looking slim and trim.

She sure does! She looks like a healthy weight, not too skinny. She's sending a wonderful message to young women.

I find it hard to believe that Hudson wore a size sixteen. She looked way bigger than that. And what is the deal with black women and weaves/wigs? Celebrities and non celebrities alike, it is epidemic. When I was growing up you rarely saw a black woman in a wig. Black people have the most beautiful coarse hair on the planet. Our hair is what makes us ethnic and gives us our unique beauty. Why would we want to look anything like our oppressors (whites)?

Jennifer Hudson looks very nice with her healthy weight loss. I don't know where Dallas grew up, but Black Entertainers did not always wear wigs. I am pushing 60 and I remember the beautiful hairdo's without enhancement of tracks or wigs. I think the idea was that we have natural beauty in many forms. I still wear my hair natural. Super long wigs don't necessarily make you beautiful. We have to be careful that whether you choose straight or natural, you are still beautiful or else the end result is self hatred and that is far more damaging.

OPPRESSORS??? PERHAPS IT IS YOU THAT HAS BEEN UNDER THAT ROCK FOR AS LONG AS I CAN REMEMBER??? THE ONLY THING HOLDING A BLACK PERSON DOWN IS HER/HIMSELF!!!!! TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR OWN DESTINY! WIGS DO NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE, ATTITUDE WILL DETERMINE YOUR ALTITUDE!!!!!!!

jc: I feel sorry for you, because you are obviously a very bitter person. Someone should tell you that white people today are not responsible for what happened hundreds of years ago. Oppressors? How sad, and how racist.

@ Viewsmine....You are absolutely correct. White people today are not responsible for what happened to blacks hundres of years ago. They merely reaped the benefits of what their parents, grandparents and other ancestor stole. As for Jennifer, she looks fantastic

What a perfect racist comment. Oppressors? Get over it already, and stop feeding it to others.

JC, I also want to point out, besides your racism, that when you are referring to "whites" as your ancestors' oppressors, for some of us "whites", our families were not here during slavery in America, you are lumping all whites together and that is just ignorant and unfair. History is history, as others have said, be mad at those that are still racist, but not all of us are like you.
