
The critically acclaimed musical 'Memphis' was the big winner at the 55th annual Drama Desk Awards in New York City, collecting four awards -- including outstanding musical, outstanding actress in a musical, best music and outstanding orchestrations.
Montego Glover, who won outstanding actress in a musical for her role in 'Memphis,' tied with Catherine Zeta-Jones, who was nominated for 'A Little Night Music.'
Oscar nominee Viola Davis ('Doubt') won for outstanding featured actress in a play for her role opposite Denzel Washington in the revival of August Wilson's 'Fences,' which tied with 'A View From the Bridge' for outstanding revival of a play.
Branford Marsalis also took home an award for outstanding music in a play for his work on 'Fences.'
The 2010 Drama Desk Awards were announced on May 23 at LaGuardia Concert Hall at Lincoln Center.
The Drama Desk Award is the only award that recognizes excellence in shows produced in all sectors of New York theater, including Broadway, off-Broadway, off-off-Broadway and legitimate not-for-profit theaters.
