Through the years, Uptown Records founder and music mogul Andre Harrell has managed to become a mainstay amongst the music industry's elite.

Developing and discovering chart-topping acts such as Jodeci, Robin Thicke, Mary J. Blige, Heavy D., and Al B. Sure, among others, has led the ex-Motown president to his latest business venture with Warner Music Group, Radio One Inc, and Interactive One.

Harrell recently brokered a deal with the three corporations in an effort to launch his new company, Harrell Entertainment.

The acquisition finds the former Dr. Jeckyll & Mr. Hyde rapper capitalizing off of today's digital media and provide a platform for aspiring artists and songwriters through Harrell's newly created website; Andreharrellmusic.com.

From June 1 through June 23, the site will feature an 'American Idol' styled contest dubbed, The Superstar Soul Music Search, which gives contestants the opportunity to submit videos from a preselected audition song.

Singers have the choice to enter in one of six markets including Atlanta, Washington D.C., Detroit, Charlotte, Philadelphia and Houston. Each day Radio One stations across America will highlight the top ranking artist in each market via Harrell's interactive website.

In true Simon Cowell fashion, Harrell will be on hand in each city to select one lucky winner to advance to the competition's grand finale, which will be hosted by the music executive and celebrity judges, on July 31 in Atlanta.

The finalist will receive a $10,000 cash prize and a record deal with Harrell Entertainment/Atlantic Records. In addition, Harrell is also offering a $5,000 prize for the top songwriter with the best original song submitted in the contest in addition to a co-publishing deal with Harrell Entertainment.
