Now comes news that the beautiful actress will join the cast of 'Law & Order: SVU' in the fall.
NBC has confirmed that Patton will play assistant district attorney Mikka Von in multiple episodes of the hit show, beginning with Episode 5. She fills the ADA slot left vacant by Stephanie March, who won't return to 'SVU' this fall.
"When I saw Paula Patton give that terrific performance in the multi-Oscar-nominated 'Precious,' I knew she'd be perfect for SVU's new assistant district attorney -- she's funny, warm and witty with a penchant for justice," executive producer Neal Baer said in a statement.
In 'Precious,' Patton played Ms. Rain, a high school teacher who inspired her troubled students.
The Los Angeles native, who is married to Grammy-winning R&B singer Robin Thicke, was most recently seen in the romantic comedy 'Just Wright,' and also appeared in 'Idlewild,' 'Déjà Vu' and 'Mirrors.'
Last month, Wilson Morales reported that Academy Award nominee Angela Bassett will join Patton in the Salim Akil-helmed comedy 'Jumping the Broom.'
'Law & Order: SVU' returns for its 12th season on Wednesday, Sept. 22.

I'm glad slender. fit black women are finding getting a chance to shine on television. Congrats to Paula! This woman and the beautiful Gabriella Union cannot get roles in Hollywood but they will give the obese, 600 pounds MAMMYs like GABBY Sidibe a role anytime. I am tired of the Obese MAMMY comeback in Hollywood. Normal looking black women need to be featured in movies more often than the Mammys.

It is so amazing to me how we can go from pride as a people in all of the gifted black actresses that were in such a very phenomenal movie to name calling and unwarranted attacks against the same ladies for one of them being given a role in a television series Paula was given the part because she was qualified and did anyone think before they started hurling insults that maybe Gabby was to young for the part and I am sure there will be plenty of tv and movies in her young gifted and plus size future in case you haven't noticed God given talent is not based on age,gender,race or even size.
