It has been a turbulent week for 'American Idol' winner Fantasia Barrino. And it's only Wednesday.
Following a lawsuit alleging that the High Point, N.C., native is a husband-stealing home wrecker, she was rushed to the hospital for an apparent drug overdose.
Today, her manager, Brian Dickens (pictured above), released a statement on behalf of the eight-time Grammy Award nominee.
"Fantasia has always been an open book. Honesty, self-respect and personal
responsibility are values she wears proudly.
Fantasia believed Mr. Cook when he told her he was not happy in his marriage and his heart was not in it. She believed him when he told her he and Mrs. Cook separated in the late summer of 2009. She believed Mr. Cook when he told her he lived elsewhere. He even took her there. One of Mr. Cook's most redeeming qualities was his complete devotion to his children. Fantasia fell in love with Mr. Cook and believed that he loved her.
Fantasia and Mr. Cook dated on and off for about 11 months. The pressure of the
constant media attention was hard on their relationship. Fantasia gave inconsistent interviews about the status of her relationship with Mr. Cook because sometimes they were on and sometimes they were off. When they were on, they spent most of their time together when she was not traveling with work.
Fantasia read Mrs. Cook's complaint against Mr. Cook for the first time yesterday. She knows some of the allegations in Mrs. Cook's complaint are totally false. There are others she strongly doubts. There is plenty she does not know.
Fantasia is heartbroken and is sorry for any pain she may have caused. Yesterday, she was totally overwhelmed by the lawsuit and the media attention.
Last night, Fantasia was hospitalized. She took an overdose of aspirin and a sleep aid. Her injuries are not life-threatening. She was dehydrated and exhausted at the time.
Fantasia is stable now. She will be released from the hospital soon.
Fantasia is a fighter and a survivor. This is not the hardest thing Fantasia has endured. Fantasia will be stronger, smarter and better for it. Her work has always inspired her and served as a source of strength. Her new album, 'Back to Me,' will be released on August 24th.

Fantasia you not the only one this has happened to. Bad choices will ruin lives. Who made that bad choice here? Dude for cheating on his marriage. Who helped it along? Fantasia. It took two and though she was naive she could of had him investigated. She got the bucks to do it. The only one I can't blame is the wife. Now how she handles this is a different story. I hope she deals with her hubby before running after Fantasia. I do hope it is a lie that Fantasia called her saying stupid stuff. If true then Fantasia did fall hook, line, and sinker for whatever dude was doing to her and telling her. Overdosing over a man is just not the way to go. Too many out there to end it all over one. Especially one thats a "nacho". I know you all know what I mean by "a nacho", and for those who don't..........ask somebody.

Fantasia,come on girl now you said he lied to you about HIS and HER marriage HELLO thats what we do when we wont something,besides rather "their" marriage is happy/unhappy thats none of your damn bisiness.I really like your singing/acting and you`re pretty but to be honest "you are your own wrost enemy"(stop calling yourself stupid).We are all blessed but we must give "GOD" something to work with,pick yourself UP,do a little dance,let this be a learning lession for you....thank you for your talent and "I love you"

TO ALL THE LADIES IF YOU HAVE TO HIM AT LEAST MAKE HIM SHOW YOU HIS DIVORCE PAPERS IF HE SAYS HES NOT TOGETHER WITH HIS WIFE ANYMORE.FANTASIA BETTER HOPE THE SEX TAPE OR TAPES STAY A SECRET, YEARS AGO SHE WOULD BE RUINED BUT WITH TODAYS MORALS SHE WILL BE MORE FAMOUS THEN EVER IF THEY GOT OUT, HOPE IT ALL WORKS OUT FOR YOU LADY.

For whatever reason, Vanessa Miss America Williams and Nancy Kerrigan just popped into my mind. Fantasia is in a very vulnerable state of mind right now. I don't know what kind of character this Dickens person is but Fantasia may just end up in his arms and bed.

Yes Fantasia should put that manager on ice. He basically gave the wife her case on a silver platter. Mrs. Cook has not yet gone after Fantasia. The court documents are from her divorce of Mr. Cook where she is seeking child support and alimony.
The laws in NC awards alimony where there can be shown marital misconduct. Part of the proof is evidence of illicit sexual activity=adultery. That is why Fantasia was named.
As far as Fantasia being naive, doubtful. She started up with that man with full knowledge that he was married, read the manager's statement. He was not separated from his wife when they began their affair. "His heart was just not in it." WTF? Trick please! So because his heart wasn't in it, you felt righteous about giving him something to get into?
I like Fanny's music. She has a compelling voice. But as my friend says, she's just another bird. She has bird tendencies and uses bird logic. Meddling in marriage is a guaranteed way to get yourself hurt.

This man, Fantasia's so-called boyfriend Mr. Cook, was not "dating" his wife, they were legally married. What is it about some people who won't grasp nor understand the concept of the legality of marriage. A marriage is a legally binding contract (agreement) and violations of that contract (oh you know, little things like cheating/infidelity) usually will cause legal repercussions.
As an entertainment professional, I'd guess that Ms. Barrino (or her manager) thoroughly examines each and every minute detail of the contracts she enters into. It's unfortunate she didn't examine (respect) the "marriage contract" between Mr. and Mrs. Cook because now it seems that through her actions (you remember those, too: honesty, self-respect and personal responsibility) she is now an unwilling 3rd party drawn into their mess (divorce).
Ladies, just remember to leave the married man alone: a marriage, once formed, that the law steps in and holds the parties to various obligations and liabilities (legal repercussions). It ain't over until the judge says it's over.

Gurls go to the public records office, I did all the way to Trinidad, W Indies and he was so mad but he had never been married but I do believe he promised her after 2 children marriage but we did wed on 10-30-65 and in 72 she was here in this country had the nerves to call and ask to speak to her husband so I told her he wasn't there and if he was she could gladly let him tell her about our wedding date on record NYC. Anyway she was a small thorn in my flesh but I dealt blow after blow and treated her children just like my own child, we did had one in 66 and to this day we are all friends. so to Fantasia I won't bash you but stop talking about the wife, he may return to her one day and drop you like you are a "hot potato." Men are weird. But I acted a bit crazy 2. My man deceased in 98 hit by a car, dead on the scene and I still love his behind.

what in hell is she gonna fire her manager for??? smdh...please remove that question from this article because it is TOTALLY IRRELEVANT; she has a good manager and Brian is a good man, smart and highly intelligent. Fantasia, girl, it's gonna be okay, but just watch out for the ex-bitter-wife, she just wants money because she's a low-wage making school teacher and is out for what she can get. It is two sides to every story and yours does sound legitimate. Don't sweat this sh*t and if you have to fight, fight her a** with all your might in court, and as far as the ex-husband, he should've not gotten involved with you, PERIOD, until he had shown you what is known as uhhhh... finalization of "DIVORCE PAPERS"??? shame on you Mr. Cook, you foul to the utmost brutha, on the real because it's more of your fault due the fact that you're still legally married but was separated, shame on you dude, you foul for that and I hope the ex-wife does take the kids to teach you a lesson, providing that you can still see your kids after all of this chaos/charades is over with because every man deserves to have their kids in their lives despite the dumb a**, idiotic, f*cked up, irresponsible sh*t you've goten invloved in!
