Following weeks of silence surrounding his alleged affair with season three 'American Idol' winner, Fantasia Barrino, Antwaun Cook finally broke his silence and came to the defense of the 26-year-old distressed singer, who was hospitalized after reportedly attempting to commit suicide.The former real estate agent released a statement through his lawyer, Nicole Sodoma, blaming himself and his estranged wife, Paula Cook, as the reason for his divorce and not Barrino.
"Antwaun would be remiss not to address the criticism and judgment he has received," the statement read. "He knew Fantasia Barrino but the failure of his marriage can in no way be blamed on anyone except the two people that were a part of the union – Paula and Antwaun. [Paula and Antwaun] expected their marriage to stand the test of time."
Although court documents reveal that the couple separated in June 2010, Cook's account states the couple agreed to call it quits last year.
"Unfortunately, like many marriages, it did not turn out as planned," it continued. "In late summer 2009, after years of discussion, the parties separated with the intention of no longer being married."
Interesting.
As for Fantasia, the eight-time Grammy Award nominee is "motivated" to resume her career, following the apparent suicide attempt, with a string of media appearances in support of her Aug. 24 album, 'Back to Me' and the second season of her hit VH1 reality series, 'Fantasia for Real,' set to premiere Sept. 19

I meet a man who was seperated when I meet him, hewas leagally seperated. I didn't know him or his wife, I did not know what lead to the seperation. He lived in his own place, had been seperated 10 months when I meet him. We started seeing each other. We were friends first then lovers. He got a divorce in September and we married that February and have been married six years. Yes after the ex-wife found about me everything was put on me, when I had never meet her or even saw her. The first time we saw each other was after our marriage when my husband and I went to pick up his daughter. Sometime peole just want to find others to blame for what ever go wrong in their lives. I can not say she was wrong nor can I say he was wrong, all I can ask is what were their intentions, was it just sex or were they talking about having a future. I believe they really cared about each other and wanted to be together after the divorce that's why the wife is acting a fool. Her soon to be ex-husband was happy, he had a smile on his face and she didn't put it there.

First off Fantasia believed that he was not back in forth with his wife. She fell in love with him, everyone has used and abused Fantasia from the door she's young and gullible. I feel that Antwan and Cook planned this to get some money from naive Fantasia. The same thing happened with LT slept with a women one night she got pregnant and went back to her husband then they sued him. MJ got kicked, broken and still made it now she lectures about abuse. Lawd knows Antwan is soothing to the eyes but that’s all he is. If Antwan loved her he would have handled his business to protect Fantasia. Alica Keys last album was crap that’s why it didn’t sell; it had nothing to do with Swiss Beats. “He who is without sin cast the first stone.” So Fantasia knows the Lord for herself, she needs to act like it. What God has for you know one can take away. Whatever happens, she will be alright as soon as she stops being a doormat for people. She needs to address one problem at a time that’s the first step, get some books on how to move pass her hurt. Get back to the gym or with her personal trainer immediately. Life is full of ups and downs, she did not get where she is without having some kind of backbone “find it”. I LOVE FANTASIA.

Why is it that I didn't want to read or hear anything from this loser????? He doesn't even deserve a comment to this article from me!!!! He's as loser to the next power because he should've filed for the darn divorce soon as he met Fantasia, or knew that he didn't want his marriage to keep drama out of his life because think with logic even if it wasn't Fantasia, the next woman would've had the same drama!

WHY IS IT THAT PEOPLE SIT BACK AND TALK LIKE SHES THE ONLY WOMAN TO FALL FOR A TRICK. HE KNEW WHAT HE WANTED AND IT WASNT HIS WIFE. HIS WIFE IS JUST MAD BECAUSE IT WAS FANTASIA. JUST LIKE MASHONDA WAS MAD BECAUSE IT WAS ALICIA KEYS IF IT WAS SOME DUST BUCKET THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN FINE. WE ALL KNOW HOW WOMEN IS THEY WANT WHAT THEY WANT WHEN THEY WANT IT AND WHEN THEY CANT GET IT THEN IT BECOMES A PROBLEM. THEY WERE SEPERATED DIVORCE OR NOT THEY WERE NO LONGER TOGETHER AND SHE BLAMES HER WHEN ITS HIS FAULT. IF I WAS HER I WOULDNT HAVE WAITED ON THEM TO GET A DIVORCE BECAUSE AS SOON AS HIS WIFE FOUND OUT THAT HE MOVED ON SHE WAS GOING TO DRAG THE DIVORCE OUT JUST LIKE MASHONDA DID AND THEN PUT THE OTHER WOMAN ON BLAST.

Fantasia sweety, I am so sorry this happened to you. A man can lie to you without thinking twice about it, I have learned this from personal experience. A mans words are just what they are, words. What does it take for a man to open his mouth and speak? Well that is all it takes for him to fill you with lies, and things he wants you to hear. Wait on the Lord, the only man you can trust is a man the Lord places in your life. I purchased 2 of your books and I know you have the ability to hear the Lord, if not you know how to get to that place. Trust God, focus on your career, forget about men, and let the Lord bring that man into your life. God give us his best, we can not do any better than God. I love you, and I am sorry you had to experience such pain.
