She's been making headlines over the past few weeks for her Elle magazine cover, and now 'Precious' star Gabourey Sidibe has another reason to be in good spirits about her professional career.
Showtime just announced that it has plans to renew the Academy Award-nominated actress' new comedy, 'The Big C,' for a second season.
According to the network, "record-breaking premiere-night ratings" inspired Showtime to renew 'The Big C' and 'Weeds' so quickly into their current seasons.
"There are definitely more comedic adventures in store for these fascinating, complex women, " Showtime's president of entertainment David Nevins said in a statement.
On 'The Big C,' Sidibe plays a high school student named Andrea.
The new seasons of both 'The Big C' and 'Weeds' will air in 2011.
As previously reported, the New York native has already wrapped the Sundance Lab film 'Yelling to the Sky' with Zoe Kravitz, in which she plays a bully.

Gabby's talents are very diverse-I wish her continued success ;)
I think her complexion has to do with the lighting that BV used but she looks fabulous! At least she wasn't air-brushed. So many people are air-brushed for photo shoots...I'm just glad that Gabby got the Elle cover. I never purchased Elle before but I did this time because Gabby was on the cover and the inside pics look great! HerStory is a great one :)

Who are yall talking about? This girl is big. I suspect everybody on here who says she is gorgeous, must weigh 250 or more. Dont yall know that the new buzz phrase for anybody fat is "they so Precious". But her fatness and present unattractiveness to most people is working for her.
I am glad that she has the smarts and commitment to make something out of her life and I hope it is a lesson for many of us to be inspired to get off the corner. Whether she took advantage of a moment in time to step out of the shadows and into the spot light, she was prepared to move forward. It's what I call "Luck". The opportunity came along and she was ready. That is a great lesson
about life. It doesn't matter what you look like. Congratulations Gabby.
