"I couldn't have been the woman I am, the friend, or the sister or the artist, or the role model I am today if I didn't go through what I went through. I needed that wake-up call in my life. That was the only way I would have gotten out of that relationship. I remember waking up one day and I knew I was over it. I felt like I wanted to get up and be in the world."

very nasty but the truth!!! I am SICK of Rihanna AND Beyonce. They BOTH can't sing. The media has played them in the ground. People, judge for yourself and STOP allowing the media (in ANY form ie..tv,radio,etc) to tell you what sounds good! Beyonce is just as FAKE as a three-dollar bill and Rihanna is in that same class.....fake!!! own to her fake azz accent. Somebody..PLEASE tell her the correct pronounciation of the name she's adopted (Rihanna) because she pronounces it fifty different ways.

You are so right. Nothing has changed about it. She is riding his nuts and the assault charge. I tell ya, she as an awesome PR team that's telling what to say. She acted like Chris whopped her butt all her life. She is a joke with an awful voice. Role model...to what?

I SIMPLY WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT I HONESTLY DONT FEEL LIKE THIS YOUNG LADY HAS A CLUE---ROLE MODEL SHE NOT--SHE SALE SEX IN ORDER TO SALE HER CDs AND WHATEVER ELSE--TRUE AS A FATHER i HATE WHAT SHE ENDURES AT THE HANDS OF C. BROWN---THERE ALWAYS TWO SIDES TO ANY STORY--I WOULD LIKE FOR HER TO STOP USING THAT SITUATION TO KEEP HER IN THE LIME LIGHT AND AGAIN, I DONT THINK SHE SHOULD USE THE TERM ROLE MODEL.

Rihanna I am so very proud of you, overcoming and getting out of that abusive relationship. As for my Mom she passed away on May 11th, 2009, who remained in a abusive relationship with my Step-Father whom allowed his family to abuse my Mother, she held onto that abuse until the day she died. It is nothing so painful than to see a beautiful woman have so much physical and mental pain live the last days of her life in pain and hate and agony. I myself refused to be put into that type of situation. God has been good to me given me the strenght and sence to let go the moment that I saw anytype of mental abuse, or if I felt uneasy in any of my relationships. I now have two son's and this is one of the things that was constantly the subject at the breakfast table, driving them to school and every free time that we had together.
I constantly reminded them of the importance of being not just a good man to the women that they may meet in their lives, but also informed them of the abuse that their Grand-Mother's had lived themselves. Women need to focus on the situation and whats important to them and that is their children, especially their son's. They need to tell them constantly that abusing a woman mentally or physically is not what God wants for them, and that we as Mother's wouldn't tolerate that form of behavior in them. We are given the role of Motherhood to teach and educate our son's to what God expects of them and from them as son's, Fathers and most of all husbands. Keep up the good work and don't stop talking about what has happened to you, because if you stop talking people would stop listening and they will forget until the next Rihanna comes up in the media again. There is nothing that you have to be ashame of God uses certain people for awareness of what is really going on, and it happens to be you, for the everyday simple people wether it be men or women that is going through abuse are not being heard and their cries are left unheard, but by you being a celebraty in the media then everyone heard your cry. I hate that this happened to you, but I know within my heart that God has choosen you to speak out for the ones that no one is hearing their cries and their pain. God bless you and keep speaking out for the unheards.

Very good reply. Sorry to hear about your mom not being able to move forward, but hopefully, you learned from her not to stay in those kinds of relationship.

JJ....So sorry about your Mom. Good does come from bad and it seems you are a stronger person for it. That is the only good part. You loved her and she knew that...all that matters at this point.
