From the looks of it, Lil' Kim and Nicki Minaj have a lot in common. The two pint-sized rappers, who both reside from The Big Apple, both made splashy impacts as soon as their music careers were launched. And although, at one point, they seemed to be bosom buddies, recent events have turned their verbal sparring into a hip hop battle royale.
As of late, the Grammy Award-winning hip-hop superstar has decided to take her beef with her should-be protege to wax. This is in response to Minaj's 'Roman's Revenge' duet with Eminem, which many believe to be a verbal thrashing on the self-proclaimed Queen Bitch. In true old-school rap fashion, Kim popped back with a searing diss track, titled 'Black Friday,' a dark reference to the newly-minted pop star's debut opus 'Pink Friday.'
They might be in the midst of an all-out, old-school rap war of words, but these two MCs are more alike than they'd like to admit. BlackVoices.com takes a look at the many similarities and few differences between Nicki Minaj and Lil Kim.

Lil Kim Through The Years
Lil Kim Through The Years
Years before Nicki Minaj made her way onto the music scene with colorful wigs and eye popping assets, Kimberly Denise Jones laid down the foundation for wild and sexy female rappers. In spite of losing her lover, The Notorious B.I.G. and serving a prison stint, Lil Kim has stood the test of time. For that, BlackVoices.com pays homage to the self proclaimed "Queen Bee" through the years.
Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, Kimberly "Lil Kim" Jones made her music debut with Junior M.A.F.I.A. on the 1995 album 'Conspiracy.' With the guided help from The Notorious B.I.G. the platinum-selling group went on to release the hit singles such as 'Get Money' and 'Players Anthem.'
Lil Kim was arrested by New Jersey cops in July 1996 and charged with possession of marijuana following a police raid on the home of B.I.G. aka Biggie Smalls.
Capitalizing off her explicit lyrics, the pint sized rapstress dubbed "Queen Bee" released her highly anticipated solo effort 'Hard Core' in Nov.1996. Songs included 'Queen Bitch,' 'Big Momma Thang' with Jay-Z and 'No Time' with Puff Daddy
Due to the imagery used for Kim's debut album, civil rights activist C. Delores Tucker attacked Time Warner's distribution of her debut album saying, "Shame on our family for producing this filth." Adding that her music is "gangsta porno rap."
Following his untimely March 1997 death, Lil' Kim and Mary J. Blige attended the funeral of Brooklyn rapper Notorious B.I.G at the Frank E. Campbell Funeral Home in New York City.
Lil Kim joined the likes of Busta Rhymes, Mase, Diddy and Dru Hill as part of the 'No Way Out' tour.
Kim teamed up with Missy Elliott, Angie Martinez, Da Brat and Left Eye for the 1997 female anthem, 'Not Tonight.' The remixed platinum track was featured on the 'Nothing To Lose' soundtrack.
"It is a memorial to Biggie. I felt Biggie's spirit while I was working on this album. I thought it was a perfect name for the album. Also, I am known in a notorious way, my style and lyrics. I've been known in a notorious way over the years," Lil Kim told Jet magazine about her 2000 opus 'The Notorious Kim.'
In 2001, Kim teamed up with Christina Aguilera, Mýa, and Pink for a cover of Labelle's hit single 'Lady Marmalade,' produced by Missy Elliott

As a real woman and not a hater they have no class, but I surpose it doesn't take class to open ones legs, I hope the money will keep them warm as they age.Another thing wearing wigs and lot of make-up doesn't make them look good it just makes them look make-up sort of like female clowns. Get the $$$ girls age is almost around your corner.

I'm inclined to believe that this is all a marketing ploy designed to generate dollars by getting Lil Kim back out there and to boost Nicki further. And if it's not then I would have to agree with a dj I heard on an xm radio station...Lil Kim's rap is too long & why the heck did she even go there with Nicki? She should have just told her to check back with her if she's still in the biz after 5 years.

They are really in a class all by themselves, however if I have to say they can both keep a room of people jumping with their music.

I agree with you, but in rap music compared to other music, why is it that everybody wants to be number one? I notice I never hear about any other types of musicians beefing with each other.

Jay-Z,Nas, and his daughters mom ALL ate good off that "beef"! They shook hands later, Jay signed Nas, and she marketed her book!! How ever we gotta do it without violence ....get PAID!!
