Talk about taking a game winning victory!
BET scored a major ratings victory last night (Jan.11) with the debut of their new night of scripted series.
'The Game,' which was previously cancelled in 2008 by The CW and picked up by BET, pulled in 7.7 million viewers to become the cable network's biggest audience for a scripted series debut.Although The New York Times cited dismal ratings as the reason The CW canned the show,'The Game's premiere surpasses ratings for last October's BET Hip Hop Awards, which drew 3.5 million viewers and even the network's tenth annual BET Awards, which drew just over 7 million viewers. It is the second most watched program in the history of the network behind the 2009 BET Awards, which took in 10.6 million viewers.
Last night, topics related to the show including 'Tasha Mack,' 'Derwin,' 'Rick Fox,' 'Melanie' 'GameOn' and 'The Game' generated between six and seven of the top-10 Twitter Trending Topics throughout the hour of the show's first broadcast.

The dramedy, which follows the relationships of football players -- and the women who love them, was created by 'Girlfriends' creator/producer Mara Brock Akil. Yesterday's episode marked the premiere of the series' fourth season having already aired for three seasons on the CW. The half-hour sitcom stars Tia Mowry-Hardrict,Pooch Hall, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Coby Bell, Hosea Chanchez, and Brittany Daniel.
BET has been very aggressive in their marketing push of 'The Game' airing marathons of the previous three seasons for two consecutive weekends, buying commercial spots on major networks, including FOX, and even showcasing the show at the Television Critics Association's winter show preview last week in Pasadena. The New York Times even did a feature on 'The Game' calling it "more real than reality TV." There were also screening parties held around the country.
In addition, the Queen Latifah produced 'Let's Stay Together' drew 4.4 million viewers. It follows the relationship challenges of five young African-Americans.
'The Game' airs on BET Tuesday at 10 pm EST. 'Let's Stay Together' airs immediately after at 10:30pm EST.

I noticed last night that The Game had a lot of scenes outdoors. What do yall think about that? Then there was Terrance from 106 & Park callin' himself trying to play Tasha Mack's boyfriend, what's up with that? Did yall see Sheree' Whitfield from Housewives of Atlanta with her one little line she said? All I'm saying is, it's starting out kinda good, but time will tell if it was worth some of yall requesting another season.

Ditto. I thought it was a little far from the ending that we saw. The kid seemed a bit too old. I mean how long was the Game off television? In addition, it was a bit tooo raunchy! You would've never seen Meagan Goode and Pooche getting it on with his pants all the way down on the CW.

I hear ya. The show is not funny like it used to be with Tahsa comments nor is it entertaning with Kelly Pitts starting her own reality show. But I do like the show getting a little extra beyond tc 14. I mean adding something new is good. But they need to put back the comedy in because the show is not funny at all. And WHAT is up with Tasha Mack boyfriend being Jermaine Dupri little brother? Terrence is not fine. Where is Rick? Or at least a good looking elderly 40 year old guy that looks 35. GET TERRENCE OFF THE SHOW PLEASE. JERMAINE DUPRI LITTLE BROTHER GOT TO GO. HIS ACTING SUCKS. What do you guys think? I mean seriously.

The show overall was good, glad they're back.....The scenes outdoors were good. Terrence was hot, I didn't know he had a body, so Tasha is doing the cougar thing....cool. Not feeling Kelly's reality show, she just comes off bitter. Malik, did Tee-Tee wrong, omg, he is just out of control. Melanie is wrong for what she did, I guess Tasha was right about her. The show was good, I hope BET hold on to it.

It took a minute then I got into it sort of? It was like, everything was happening TOO FAST with each person? Arguments were setting off from the left to the right? I thought, for the first episode, the show shouldn't have revealed a lot? That's my opinion? That Terrance, NOT A GOOD NATURAL BORN ACTOR! T Need to just keep his day job doin 106 N Park!
As far as the new characters starring in the first episode, Megan Good, she and Hosea Chanchez OVER DONE DIT IT with the bathroom scene. I thought, it was a bit TOO MUCH FOR TV! Yall fell me on that? There were other scences that were a little TOO MUCH FOR TV. BET is good for stuff like that. I did not like Hosea Chanchez's character last night, he was such an AZZ to everybody especially to his boy! Now who really got on my nerves and OVER DID IT was Coby Bell's Ex-Wife! I did not like her character at all. She over did her part and it she turned bitter, jeleous, and stuck up after their Divorce. The different settings of where things took place was very irritating! I'm sorry, it was like jumpin from the the bathroom scene to an outdoor scence? I feel ya on that Ralph, who made comment on here.
Melanie was WRONG for not tellin the truth at the end. I just thought for this particular part should have been revealed a little later not the first episode? TOO MUCH for a first episode. I hope it will get better, I really do. I did feel a disconnect with all the characters? Did any of you feel that way? I wish the other newtwork would have treated them better, let them do what they wanted, and gave them all a better contract? I guess we shall see over time if this show will SURVIVE or NOT?

omg i agree with everything you said..malik's character was much more endearing before but now they have turned him to in an ass and idk how i feel about his character being so one dimnesional...thats what it is..everybody's characters felt one dimensional and they laid it on a little too thick and too much too soon. I didn't like it much at all..even the lighting lol
