Aretha Franklin is making her media rounds, granting Jet magazine an exclusive interview and even calling in to 'The Wendy Williams Show.'Now, after months of speculation, the Queen of Soul is brushing off speculation that she is suffering from pancreatic cancer. The 'Respect' singer spoke with her friend and 'Access Hollywood' correspondent Shaun Robinson about her feelings on reading reports that she had cancer.
"Well, there was just so many wild things out there and just so many things being said that weren't true," Franklin told Robinson in a phone interview this week. "I just felt I needed to address it a little."
She continued, "I don't know where pancreatic cancer came from. I was sitting there reading the newspaper and it was saying someone in my family said that. No one in my family ever said that to anybody."The 68-year-old superstar revealed that the pain "was so hard it almost brought me to my knees," and that she made the decision to cancel her concerts until she could determine what was wrong.
As previously mentioned, big names such as Oprah Winfrey, Jesse Jackson, Patti LaBelle, Berry Gordy, and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice have personally called Franklin to check on her well-being. But, she also was recently contacted by President Barack Obama, for whom she performed at his request at his inauguration in 2009.
"I got a wonderful and beautiful letter from the president," Franklin revealed. "And nobody does it like him!"
Regardless of what illness she is suffering from, the 'Respect' singer seems in good spirits and admits to losing some weight.
"I'm down to a rockin' [size] 16 - 18," she exclaimed. "Oh, I'm comin' with it, okay! It's getting better every day. I plan on keeping this weight that I have now -- I'm so happy with it."
Professionally, she has another reason to celebrate.
The 20-time Grammy Award winner is nominated for a Best R&B Performance By A Duo or Group With Vocals for 'You've Got A Friend' with Ron Isley. Although she is unlikely to attend February's Grammy Award ceremony, she will resume her career schedule and promises to make up canceled dates in Washington, D.C., Virginia and Kansas City in May.

I am GLAD that Ms RiRi is alright, talking, and starring on different shows but, If she knew that the rumors were not true WHY NOT ADRESS IT PROPER and TELL THE REAL TRUTH? Why not be TRUTHFUL to your FANS who LOVE YOU and let the TRUTH SET YOU FREE? Make sense? People who are a die hard fan of RiRi's deserve that much don't you think? Then she can feel at ease and to STOP all of these TERRIBLE RUMORS of her, OK? I myself was in tears for a min? To stop the WORLD from crying and yourself Ms. RiRi, NOW is your CHANCE to set the RECORD STRAIGHT, OK? I'm just SAYIN?
We are ALL EARS MS. RiRi?

Why, because it's nobody's business. She should not have to put her business in the street. What if you had some sickness that was yours alone, what would telling everyone about it do???

First let me say, Thank God she does not have cancer because I thought she was almost outta here. All this talk on the blogs about pancreatic cancer and how it's the worse cancer to get, and how you don't survive p.c. I was like OMG.
But that's why when rumors are flying or to prevent rumors from flying, you have to say something. Aretha owes us nothing, but because she's a mega star, something should be said to quiet the rumors. She does not have to tell us her business but when you don't say anything people jump to conclusions and rumors fly.
Anyway, if she's already a size 16-18, that's great. She sure did it fast. And if she had bariatric surgery or whatever, I'm happy for her. God's Blessings Ree-Ree!!!

We, as citizen's of the U.S, feel we have the entitlement to know who, what, where, when, and how it happens in someone else's life. I love Ms. Franklin as well and will R.E.S.P.E.C.T the fact that she deserves to have privacy in her life. Knowing somebody's else's business seems to only make US feel better. Not knowing her true illness should not stop all of us from wishing her well...as a die hard fan, I'm hoping that we keep praying for her wellness verses trying to decipher the intimate details of her current medical limitations. With that being said, I wish you and Ms. Franklin a wonderful day.

Gastric bypass is a personal choice and nobody's business but the patient's and the doctor's. That being said, I wish the Queen a speedy recovery and successful weight loss. I hope she continues to sing well into her 90's and beyond.
