BlackVoices.com has exclusively learned that Derek Luke has signed on to star in Jada Pinkett Smith's critically acclaimed medical drama 'HawthoRNe,' which returns for its third season June 14 on TNT.
According to a network spokesperson, the 'Antwone Fisher Story' actor will play the role of Dr. Miles Bourdet, a hot, young surgeon who arrives at James River Hospital to become the protégé of Dr. Tom Wakefield (played Michael Vartan). Currently in the midst of a divorce, Miles will attract the attention of Camille Hawthorne -- daughter of Pinkett Smith's Christina Hawthorne.
Luke, who was last seen starring in NBC's short-lived medical drama 'Trauma,' has signed on for a multi-episode arc that begins with the season premiere.In addition to the title role in the Denzel Washington-directed 'Antwone Fisher,' the New Jersey native's feature film credits include 'Biker Boyz,' 'Friday Night Lights,' 'Miracle at St. Anna' and 2009's box office hit 'Notorious.' Duke will also star as Gabe Jones in the upcoming 'Captain America: The First Avenger,' scheduled for release in July.

I think this storyline will be great and definitely hott! I appreciated Camille growning up last season and bring drama (real life) outside of the hospital into the hospital. (Shana) Are you serious? Really? Do you really think "Derek" over acts? I think he's a great actor with the potential to be the next "Will Smith". I've seen everything the guy has been in and the only picture I did not like was his role in "Madea Goes To Jail" and that maybe the role you are referring to ... Derek is an "A" class actor surrounded by a lot of "B & C" category actors.

I'm so tired of Jada BUYING her fam careers including herself. I'll stick the the EXCELLENT writing on Grey's Anatomy although I wish Isiah would come back!!!!

How exactly does one buy a career? And how much does it cost,oh and can I put one of lay-a-way and the real question - if this is true, why is it distressing to you? There are far too few African Americans in the industry who are really doing well, so if Jada can "buy" a career for her family then I say bravo girl, get out the checkbook! I wish I was in the Smith family. Are you mad at Charlie Sheen, Miley Cyrus, the Kardashians? Why not? They all have multiple family members in the business.Maybe it's because you have a field negro mentality (or maybe you're white racist??) - whatever the case you have bought into the lie that blacks should not expand and excel. You are a very sad commentary on the 21st century girl (get it - Willow's hit song) HAA!! Get over yourself - Jada Rocks!

I love that he is joining the show, but the storyline seems a little repeated. Camille needs to look inside of herself and gain some self esteem. She fell in love with the young man last season and even lied about him hitting her.
Jada seems to be about empowering woman of all ages, she should start with her tv daughter.
P.S. My 7 year old daughter loves the confidence and personality of Willow.

Have you even watched the show? I like Grey's Amatomy as well. But HawthoRNe is really well written and it is a great show.

ok i understand that yall are bringing in derek luke an i love it but he should not b brought in for christina daughter she should stay with marcus they make a cute couple put derek with someone else please dont put him with her daughter.
