Celebrities flock to comedienne Chelsea Handler's late night talk show 'Chelsea Lately' to promote their latest projects and crack a few jokes. But sometimes the jokes hit a little too close to home. The leading lady of the upcoming film 'Jumping the Broom' Paula Patton sat down with Handler and talked about her career and family including husband Robin Thicke. But when the subject of her blonde haired blue eyed son Julian came up, it seemed like Handler hit a nerve.
"He's blond, he has blue eyes. It's crazy. Everybody's like, did you have anything to do with this? They think we like adopted a Russian child...and everyday I'm like he's gonna get blacker, no look," Patton said.
She was all smiles chatting with Handler, but it's a bit sad that she's mistaken for her son's nanny, as Handler was quick to point out.
What's so comical and cute about someone confusing a famous actress with the help? Patton isn't the only mother to have experienced this case of mistaken identity. Several publications like 'Essence,' 'The New York Times' and NPR have reported on the issue.
Patton went on to explain that "blackness takes time" and "a tan is coming in, the hair's curlier, I'm telling you."

WTF did she expect?
She is half White, she bascially looks White (can possibly pass as a White woman) in her physical/body features/appearance and married a White man.
What did she expect? Black features, black hair and coloring? Was she hoping that some black ancestor genetic trait from her Black half of her family would show up in her child?
And she needs to realize that as her baby gets older, he/she won't get any darker only Whiter looking.
But as a consolidation prize, she can tell her child that he/she can identify him or herself as a Black person.
Good luck with that because she might cause a lifetime identity crisis in her child.
And comments like that "Paula Patton Struggling With Son's White Appearance?....Mom, just keep that to your self.

That's why so many people got mad when her husband (forgot singer's name) had the nerve to say she experiences "racism" in Hollywood. Well at least she has the right skin color to get roles "easily." Ask Regina King,Viola Davis, Nia Long and Angela Bassett if they can get roles based on their face as easy as Paula?
Now this tells me about the superficial environment she travels because if I saw her with a gorgeous baby at a store I would assume it's her son. I keep hearing LA is VERY phony!!!!
She explained that wrong (or media took it out of context as usual) because I cracked the same joke when my daughter was born and she looked so white (I'm dark skinned) people kept asking was her dad Latino? hahaha

Ms. Patton u seem to feel that u have 2 explain ur son's appearance to people. Well, u don't! Don't stress over this issue. Be strong, confident! Raise ur son in the admonition of the lord. Ur child needs u n his dad 2 help him develop solid self esteem and a definite sense of his value. Love him, teach him, support him, always.:~)"Good Luck! Ms. Linda Frank

Paula has never been black so for her to be surprised, is crazy. All of that mixed blood is sprouting its wings and Robin Thicke may sing with soul but I'm gonna leave the rest of that joke alone!

yes, she has effectively gotten rid of her blackness after two generation !
How ridiculous are these bw? You don't see britney spears or kelly clarkson or jessica simpson talking about "We love bm just as much as wm...." the white community would have their A88 for that.
Yet another sellout hoe.

OKAY!!! Nowhere in this interview do I see her struggling with the looks of her son. People need to stop feeding into the medias LIES. Wishing the Patton-Thicke family much joy, love and happiness! Keep smiling and laughing Paula :-)
