From PAPERMAG:
To say Maya Rudolph has had an eclectic career is putting it mildly. She's played keyboards for '90s alt-pop band the Rentals, starred on 'Saturday Night Live' for nine seasons and delivered a critically-acclaimed performance in 2009's 'Away We Go.' Rudolph's latest turn, as the bride-to-be in the Apatow-produced 'Bridesmaids' (opening nationwide on Friday), helps kick off a trend of raunchy, female-driven comedies invading cineplexes this summer. Rudolph recently talked to PAPERMAG about her experience making 'Bridesmaids,' her craziest costumes and wedding tips for Kate Middleton.
In 'Bridesmaids,' you wear a wedding gown by the fictional designer Lady St. Petsois JuJu. Where does that gown rank in terms of the most hideous costumes you've had to wear on screen?
I've worn so many hideous costumes. The more hideous the better. I can't say my Donatella costumes from 'SNL,' because they were all masterpieces. I guess the craziest costumes I've had to wear are my Nuni costumes, which were really fun to help create. The Nunis were these strange Germanic art dealers who were both named Nuni that Fred Armisen and I played. Fred always wore the same purple jumpsuit, and my lady wore a flapper dress on one side and a ball gown on the other. It was always something asymmetrical, confusing and difficult to sit down in a chair in. Completely nonsensical.
When 'Bridesmaids' hits theaters, it will instantly enter the pantheon of wedding comedies. How is Bridesmaids different from the pack?
Everyone's saying "wedding comedy," but I don't feel like we were setting out to make a wedding movie. For me, the movie is about this great friendship that is put to task through people moving on with their lives. I love how honest the friendship is in this movie. Amidst all the great jokes, there's a real friendship in there, and it's actually really sweet.

This Maya Rudolph likes to try to pass as white, but it's obvious looking at her she's a Negro.
For example, in the trailer to the movie this article is about, her fiance is white, so she's trying to pass as white. Now I can understand that any Negro would love to pass as white, but she is really pushing it given how obvious it is that she is a Negro.
She may even have a white parent, but you can see the Negro in her.

She is not trying to pass as anything. She has done interview after interview claiming her pride for being Minnie Ripterton's daughter; as well as being raised by her jewish father after her mother's death. Passing is a racist term, when you "pass" you do not talk extensively about the African American (not Negro) part of your heritage as she has always done. You should have something else to harp on, really, anything else would do!

THERE ARE FOUR MAJOR RACES. They are Black, Brown, Yellow, White. If your skin color is Black, you are of the Black race; If your skin color is brown, you are of the Brown race; If your skin color is yellow, you are of the yellow race; If your skin color ism white, you are of the white race. Maya Rudolph has white skin, that makes her white. You are free to call yourself whatever you want to. I myself have brown skin and was raised in the African-American culture. Therefore, I am a racially brown Africsn American.

The whole interracial marriage thing doesn't simply mean someone is passing as white. She is bi-racial clearly. Now as far as wanting to look white, that is not the case for everyone. Some people are actually proud of their heritage and appreciate their own hair w/o weaves and straightening. Read more about how some Africans have been conditioned to think of themselves as inferior. Gain some understanding before attacking a group. I find some people of all races to be both attractive and unattractive.

That JLO tried to pas as white but she is only a Puerto Rican. In all of her movies she only insisted to have white male co-stars because she never wanted to be seen on film with a Puerto Rican actor. It is true that she bleached her skin white, narrowed her nose to look white and wears blond weaves but she needs to realize that she is as Puerto Rican as Lala Vasquez and Evelyn Lozado. All very obvious island darks who will not make it in Hollywood because they do not fit the image of a Latina...Sofia Vergara, Salma Hayak, Selena Gomez.
Why do you think Ben refused to marry a Puerto Rican woman? He saw photos of JLO before she tried to surgically change into a white Spanish woman and he changed his mind. He was right just look at JLO'S twins! They look too Puerto Rican.

Yes, that Puerto Rican J Lo trie to pass herself off as white, just black women do everything they can to look white, like straightening their hair or wearing hair extensions from other more attractive races.
In every J Lo romantic comedy I've seen, she goes out of her way to describe herself as "Italian" or "Meditteranen" to excuse her dark skin, and is always involved with a white male lead.
Pathetic.
These colored women should just accept they are what they are, even though they wish they were white (which I can certainly sympathize with).
And black men are no better. If they have the money, they ALWAYS go after a white woman, because they long to at least have children that look more white.
Same thing with lighter skinned Negroes. They go out of the way to deny they are Negroes by describing themselves as "multiracial", just another way to try to elevate themselves above what they really are, a Negro.
