Kerry Washington is set to take on the starring role in 'Grey's Anatomy' creator Shonda Rhimes upcoming new show, 'Scandal'.
The Washington D.C.-set show is based on real-life crisis manager and public relations guru Judy Smith, whose resume includes advising Monica Lewinsky during the Clinton scandal, and playing a key role in the Iran-Contra investigation as well as the Clarence Thomas Supreme Court confirmation hearings. Smith also served as White House deputy press secretary for Pres. George H. W. Bush.
Expect a lot of drama in this new series, as 'Scandal' is said to "revolve around the life and work of a professional crisis manager and her dysfunctional staff.' Washington leads the "gladiators in suits" as Olivia Pope, a former media relations consultant to the President. Although Pope has opened up her own firm, she can't seem to cut ties with her past "professionally and personally," according the show's official synopsis.
Washington's Pope is described as "stylish but weary, too smart for her own good, something of a legend, formidable, driven, insightful, intuitive and fearless; heads up a team of crack legal experts." The official premiere date is TBD, but we're excited to see what the talented Washington will do with this starring role in a show developed by the equally talented Rhimes.

Well the last DC show I LOVED was The West Wing so good luck Shonda. I'm a Grey's fan so I'm rooting for you. Casting is the key for me!

Kerry is a great actress. Bravo and Shonda Rhimes is doing her thang!!! The premise of 'Scandal' sound great. It should be a hit.
I feel sorry for Isaiah Washington getting booted from Grey's Anatomy but he should've known better. This country has a short memory when it comes to something’s but not remarks like that, especially from a Black person but Mel Gibson's career is over as well and he's not Black.
Well, Isaiah's career isn't over but it's severely damaged. I'll still support Isaiah because to be human is to error so hopefully, he will be back on T.V real soon because he's a great actor.
Much continued success to Kerry Washington and Kudos to Shonda. Shonda isn't just putting Black folks to work...she's showing us at our best. Doctors, lawyers and corporate heads and that is a welcome change from what some portrayals are because that is who we're...Lawyers, Doctors and CEO's not just what is sometimes plastered all over the news or on chttlin'-types of movies.
But at least Shonda tried real hard to keep Isaiah on G.A. and he was on another T.V series after G.A. but that show flopped. Two things is a no-no, racist remarks and bigotry. Stay away from calling someone whom is gay any derogatory names.

Isaiah Washington is just fine. Let's hope Shonda Rhimes shows a fair balance of Black love and not what we get on Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice!! Let's hope!?!?!

OK you lost me? How did an article on Kerry/Shonda become a rant on Isiah? I miss Isiah (he paid for those tacky remarks) and I wish he would do a cameo (since his former girl keeps mentioning his name on the show) because the casting went down the drain after the principle actors left! Isiah is a great actor...
Don't lecture me on Hollywood and behavior because Robert Downey Jr. is a great success story and look how many idiots who claim the economy is bad made Charlie Sheen richer!!!!

Isaiah Washington and Kerry Washington are not related you know!!! How does a new series with Kerry Washington convert to a rant about Isaiah Washington. Lots of Media personalities say things they shouldn't have, WE GOT THAT!!! Why would one still be bitter about remark someone has made years ago. Respectfully, Isaiah Washington is a great actor, However this article is about Kerry Washington.

I am certainly going to watch that! It appears to be tastefully done. Nothing like the sick scumbag LUST crap on Grey's Anatomy. I tried to watch Grey's Anatomy one time and went in the bathroom and threw up. The lack on moral values and creepy Isaiah Washington story lines was enough to push me over the edge. Absolute GARBAGE!
