From the Huffington:
The national media's focus, rightly, heads now to Joplin, Missouri, to survey and dispatch from the scene of a devastating killer tornado. It's already been declared a state of emergency, with federal relief on its way, but if a recent pattern is any indication, the attention will be fleeting. And if that does end up being the case, perhaps Spike Lee has his next movie project.
Lee received a Peabody Award on Monday for his second documentary series on the Hurricane Katrina-ravaged New Orleans, this one titled "If God Is Willing and da Creek Don't Rise." A companion piece to his first HBO-aired look at the weather-beaten city, "When the Levees Broke Right: A Requiem in Four Acts," this new documentary explores the fledgling rebuilding effort undertaken by the city's citizens. Yet Lee isn't just looking forward -- he had sharp words for former President George W. Bush, who was in office when the hurricane crashed through the already crumbling levees.

This country must get its priorities in better order!.. Charity begins at home and we are now experiencing gross neglect at the expence of favoring other locations for...profit and influence!....We shall reap whatever we sow and changes are underway to reveal our mistakes! Our infrastructure is crumbling as we send tax money to other nations!

See this is why I have much respect for Spike Lee. His first public comments could have been about the ignorant pointless Tyler Perry drama the media used to sell the movie but his first comments were based on his award winning documentary and former Pres Bush! Thank you Spike for showing plenty of class! Now when are you and the Denz teaming up again????

Deb, I side with you only on your question, when is Spike Lee going to team up with Denzel Washington. The pair would no doubt come up with an entertaining project.
However, to call Tyler Perry's comedy pointless, was a big miss. Respectfully, I understand it's your opinion based on your scale. I see where it's easy to chalk up a Perry movie as meaningless, but give credit where is due. Every play and movie written by Perry not only provides laughter, but offers a lesson in life or a means to look deeper at ourselves. Granted, Madea is no role model nor are many of his other characters, but then I do not believe that was the intent. Lastly, why is it that we always come down hard on each other. If white America produced similar Perry movies, everyone, blacks included, would applaud the entertainment value of it and even recommend it to a friend. Stop hating!!!

@Vic-This is what I hate about public boards and people taking your words out of context. Anyone who has tracked my posts knows I like Madea and Tyler Perry. Every family has a Madea BUT I also LOVE Spike Lee!!! When I said "pointless drama" I meant how the black media (and Tyler) kept playing Tyler's criticisms of Spike over and over again on every radio interview etc. Spike NEVER responded!
Again to your comments on why do we come down on each other which was also taken out of context on these boards? We don't all think alike so I get sick of tired and not being allowed to agree to disagree. White people come down on each other. The problem is our Hollywood pot is smaller so sometimes criticisms can hurt word of mouth on a black project! I hope this response straightens this confusion!
"Stop hating" is so childish and high school. Opinions aren't hating.....

We need some laughter in the world. It isn't all pointless. We also need to be WOKE UP! But "laughter doeth well, like a medicine", so don't knock it, God put laughter in us to help us keep going! And let's ALL be kinder to one another, we live in a evil world.

Not to start a tag you're it, high drama of word slicing and character disecting, but rather simply tell you...your last response straightens the confusion. Thank you
By the way, you hit the nail on the head...I'm 17 and in high school, so to say 'Stop Hating' is appropriate, yeah?

Uh Ms Deb, Tyler Perry doesnt need to fight with Spike Lee to sell any of his movies Baby. Spike Lee is one that needs the attention these day to sell his movies whatever they are these days.

The Bushes and Cheney don't care about regular people, the poor, and especially if they are black. They want us to die. That is the REAL reason they didn't help. They have an evil agenda for the world, called the NWO. They want alot of people to die and they are behind it. Bush sr. and Cheney pulled Bush jr. puppet strings. These people are very evil and demonic. Watch out because they are going to do more. Jesus is the only one to save us.

Anita, if you were more easily brain-washed, you'd be dangerous. The article (had you read it in it's entirety) speaks of the failure of our nations infrastructure and her need for repair. To suggest that Bush took five days to come to New Orleans is somehow a NWO conspiracy begs a plausible explanation. Obama has no plans to visit Joplin until Sunday, six days later, not five. Obama has yet to visit the states whom are fighting failing levees and record flooding, and he has no plans to do so. Obama has not addressed the need for improving our levees since he took office. Does any of this mean that Obama wants you to die? That he hates you? You have ZERO argument or proof to back up your claims. You are simply a racist. I bet you feel that dissent from your "opinion" amounts to racism too? That I wish you were dead? Omitted from my plans for NWO? Get a hold of yourself and stop trying to prop up the destroyers of the changed America you hoped for.
