As I write this, I'm wrapping up a fifteen-hour work day and at 9 pm, it's an early night.
In those hours I've attended four market appointments with fashion brands, spoken to high school students from East New York, read a chapter of 'The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People,' produced a feature on Emilio Pucci for Essence.com where I'm fashion editor, and researched another on Michelle Obama. But the most productive thing I managed to do today? Dedicate some time to watch the finale of the 'Oprah Winfrey Show.'
As she floated on to the set in her peach ensemble and perfectly coiffed hair, I braced myself for a star-studded extravaganza. But the Queen of Daytime had a more dazzling presentation in store: a tete-a-tete with me "and you and you and you too."
In her hour long "love letter," Winfrey emphatically stated something that struck me: "Find out your calling and stick to it." For those who have yet to find it, Oprah's call to action must have been akin to dim light on a dark road. For many, finding what one was meant to do is an undertaking as dazzling to the ear as it daunting to the soul. Yet for others like me, who have been crystal clear from youth about what that calling and passion was, the road can be equally difficult.
After years of working in media and earning the title of Fashion Editor, I find myself in an interesting place: the very place I started. Just like the years I spent as an intern, I am always the last to leave, always working on weekends, always trudging through mountains of mail and always focused more on perceived failures than apparent successes.
On nights like this I'm besieged by questions: am I working too much? Am I working too little? Am I totally not efficient? How do I find balance? And if all this doesn't have the direct service aspect as say, volunteering at a shelter would, is it even worth it?
Yet reflecting on Oprah's hour-long monologue puts some of these questions to bed. As she showed in her review of her 25-year journey, nothing but dedication, persistence and an unrelenting desire to make others better is what helps you walk the talk.
So as I pack up my bag and head home, I -- like millions of people who watched the finale -- am inspired to continue Oprah's legacy by remembering not just what she said on that finale, but how she lived it for twenty-five years.

I learned that we all just want to be appreciated and validated as a human being. We want people to listen to us; but we should also listen to others as well. As for the exchange between Iyanla and Oprah...it just validated what I already knew: that there is lots of miscommunication between us all. We usually think we are communicating our thoughts / point across, and often the other person is interpreting our words as something totally different from what we are trying to say. Miscommunication happens quite often.

y do U need validation? R u not happy, and secure with U? When U set a goal to achieve, and U achieve it, isn't that validation enough? Look within, and c the beauty inside U.

I learned the exact same thing, validate, love, faith, and doing something you enjoy. I thought Oprah's letter of love is exactly what we needed. With Oprah and Iylana, i felt like Iylana should have addressed her issues long time ago. I don't know how she could have felt like O' didn't love her the woman gave her plenty of air time. IK think she just wanted to have her own show and it was not yet her season. That is why i wonder how she thought we should listen to her.

The "real deal" behind oprah's exit from network television is that she lost her Financing after the World Fortune defined her as a willing participant and conspirator with the "ponzi scheming" crooks she operates with lying like they own the World Fortunes Corporations, Businesses, and Technology. No to mention the "psycho sex-cults" they ally themselves with to aid in their theft plots while they moonlight as "child predators". She spends too much time glamorizing under cover homosexuals like: barack obama, john travolta, and the "herpes spreading" tom cruise also. I'll give you an example, oprah used the media to lie as if she owned the Oxygen Channel and Harpo Productions(who sued her) for years!

Miscommunication is at it's ultimate in Florida because of the added language barrier for lots of people.

To The Editor, Zandile Blay
I thank you for sharing that with us. You seem to be a loving, giving, and a dedicated person to your work and dedication to others. Nothing wrong in devoting your time and there is no such thing of doing too much or doing too little in my book, far as I am concern. You are appreciated in all the things you do. Just remember that.
Just like Oprah had said, "Everybody has a calling", a purpose in life. I do believe that too. Oprah has taught a lot of us and reminded us all about what it takes to dedicate, inspire others, making a difference in giving back by helping others (whether it's money or devoting time), how to open up and come out of deepest fears, and living our dreams. I'm sure she has touched so many in different ways.
Even though, it is a end to this Chapter of her show but a new Chapter of what God has in store for her has just begun. Just like God has a plan for you. Keep being you and doing the things you love because, you be surprise on how you inspiration and a big help to others. You love what you do and it comes from the heart. We are all here for a purpose. We all should show compassion and help and inspire others in this world. That to me is rewarding. I missed on Wednesday the finale? I will watch online. I enjoyed watching the other 2 days of Oprah's farewell. But we all know, Oprah is not going anywhere. Oprah will always be in our hearts where ever we go. Keep continuing on writing such good articles.
PEACE.

Well, Scout sees through racism b/c of her perspective as a child--she has more of a clean, innocent slate by which to judge people.

I am not defined by Oprah...but, by God and HIS son..the Lord Jesus. Oprah does not believe in Jesus according to her words.
