From the Root:
While Lady Gaga herself (real name: Stefani Joanne Germanotta) is the artist and creative mind behind Lady Gaga Inc., her lesser-known manager, Troy Carter, is leading the enterprise's digital strategy. He's using a unique strategy involving a broad range of online tools to "keep the Gaga machine in overdrive," the New York Times reports.
The combination of Gaga's star power and his aggressive deal making have made her the first Twitter user to reach 10 million followers (more than Justin Bieber or President Obama), and her Facebook page has 36 million fans. She's even begun promotional deals with Google, Zynga and Gilt.
"Troy and Gaga are doing things with communications and fan relationships that we haven't really seen before," Gary Briggs, a vice president at Google who worked with Lady Gaga's team on her recent TV commercial for Chrome, told the New York Times.
Carter has worked with the star for more than four years, during which time the Internet has become increasingly important in music management. "There was a time when radio stations wouldn't play Gaga's music because it was considered dance," Carter said. "Outside of live performances, the Internet became our primary tool to help people discover her music."

I thought Toni Braxton's sister husband was behind Lady Gaga.

He is her music contract manager, not her PR person

It is always more than one person behind an artist!
So he could be behind her as well.

What's the matter SAM angry that no manager white or black could save JLO'S career so she ended up on a dying American Idol. Only the best artist make it in America...black and white...no Puertos ever really do. Gaga is the biggest star of her time just the same as Madonna was in hers. Puertos and their jealousy need to stop. Go put on a Marc Anthony record and pretend that you people are relevant in the music world.

Only the best artists make it in American? you are kidding right? if you have ever known a talented person, someone who could out sing or dance people who are considered stars, yet for some reason failed at "the business," then you would know what you wrote is not true. Mediocrity, deception and self-promotion are what is overwhelmingly rewarded in this culture. it is becoming more and more rare to find a truly talented or exceptional actor, business person, teacher, singer, dancer etc., in the most blinding limelight. Frauds, thieves, delegaters and blamers get the best jobs, the biggest bonuses, and Madoff aside, get away with virtual murder in America. It was well known that Madonna had personal relationships with anyone who could help her career, and J-HO had the same reputation. Lopez had a much better career than her talents warranted and her fans who like her ever whitening visage (something you can relate to considering what you call yourself!) have to accept that. Like others before her, she will make a fine Vegas act and continue to make lots of money shaking her big ass for people who act like one never existed before hers--just as people act like no one wore a costume or loved gays before Gaga.

"Well, I agree I haven't seen anything like her show before, it's the most ridiculous and laughable garbage I've ever seen, even exceeding the garbage shows Madonna had. I'm sure the Negro manager had a hand in producing this garbage, that makes perfect sense."
Jealous? LOL, LOL!
They are all holding hands skipping happily to the bank! LOL!

ooo "pure gold," as your unnecessarily nasty language may attest, YOU may be the ignorant one here. "Negro" in this case, is a way of describing black people who are wrapped up on the success and promotion of whites rather than each other. Is this man also using his talent to catapult truly talented black artists to where Gaga is? She's not that talented. She has made a spectacle of herself and that's not the same thing. At the very most, she has a talent for self promotion. Regarding this "Negro," and any success he is personally having, there are more important things in the world and in life than making money in any way possible and that would include preserving and building upon one's own cultural legacy before others can benefit from your brilliance. Furthermore, he may be rich, but we don't know HOW well he is doing in relation to Gaga, and yes, that is an historical concern as well; there is a def. history of whites making money off black genius while the blacks die poor and no other blacks can benefit from what the black geniuses knew or did. Anyone who doesn't know that is ignorant of something very important that only consciously working against it would solve.

Yes Sam! Except for one thing. Gaga looks exactly like Dale Bozio of Missing Persons, and Gaga's fashion sense was almost identical to Dale's at the beginning (see: Bubbles and bleach blond), not Madonna's. But Dale had a much more interesting voice that didn't need electronic enhancements or obfuscation. And the costumes and stage show? In the 70's, it was Funkadelic that started the wave of outrageous metallic, robotic costumes, make up and wigs. Funkadelic's The Long Haired Sucker wore a long blond wig even before Dee Snyder (Twisted Sister) and the "Hair Bands" of the pop/metal genre. George Clinton and them used to land on a stage in a big silver "space craft" they called "The Mothership!" They were followed in the mid 70's by the disco divas like LaBelle and Silver Convention and other Funk Bands like Starguard, their own Parlet and Brides of Funkenstein, Lakeside, LTD and even Cameo.
In short, it is my educated opinion that Gaga is a cross between Dale Bozio (who she looks exactly like, please google her!), Grace Jones and Funkadelic (costume and spectacle), even if all she knows is Madonna, Elton John, The Beatles and Michael Jackson. We don't always know where we really get stuff from and there is "nothing new under the sun."
