"I'm not talking about the history of black people, of African Americans. I'm talking about at this point right now... I don't know of organizations and groups like Focus on the Family and such anti-gay organizations who are putting up so much money – millions and millions of dollars – into stopping me from, you know, being black or telling me I can't exercise my blackness. There's no equality. There's no equality for the LGBT community."
-- Stand-up comedienne and actress Wanda Sykes opens up on facing adversity in the gay community. (Piers Morgan Tonight)

You know that racists used the Biblical story of the Tower of Babel to justify segregation, don't you?

amcewen, That is what bigots say, about the Tower of Babel, as you said, the Bible doesNOT say that. But the Word of God, the Bible, CLEARLY says that homosexuality is an abomination to God. He hates it and adultery and fornication. People do all of them but God CLEARLY states He does NOT like it. It has NOTHING to do w/the color of someones skin. Jesus loves all people but He does NOT love their sin.

God also created homosexuals. Why should they have to hide who they are, to protect your petty fragile mind set? Who are you to dictate what anyone wants to do with their lives. There are far more things that are way way more important then a man sleeping with or woman with woman. You can disagree with the lifestyle all you want (lord knows I do) you find it disgusting all you want (i do too) but you can not step on their freedoms to do anything and everything that us heterosexuals can do. This is not an issue of religion. This is not a race issue. This is an issue of basic human rights and respect.

I have to disagree to a point. I know a couple who went looking for a house to lease. They made it known they needed a "gay friendly" neighborhood. When it came time to move in-one had only gone to actually see the property-the agent told them they wouldn't be comfortable in this neighborhood. "Why?" asked the couple, we told you we were gay. The agent said it's not b/c you're gay, it's because you are a bi-racial couple. Racism, yes. Anti gay, no.
We don't give two hoots about your sexual orientation, it's the fact you try to shove it down our throats is what ticks us off.

@therealdwf
Stop lying! You know damn well it had alot to do with them being gay and nothing at all about them being an interracial couple. Also, last time I checked, no one was trying to "shove it down your throats" when it clearly states "gay" in the title, that YOU wanted to read dumbA$$!!!

Its not really the fact that they're shoving their sexuallity down your throat that causes so much outrage. being openly gay in this day and age is difficult due to the pressure coming from ignorrant individuals. this also includes the tention between gays and the religious individuals who shun them for being gay. to top it off, members of congress are using thier religious beliefs and the bible to deny gays certain rights.
Lets be real, keeping it "in the closet" is not gonna help none because someone is gonna find out one way or another.

Wanda Sykes is a very funny comedian. Who cares if she's gay or not?? People have to realize its none of there freaking business what goes on in that woman's life. That's her business!!!! If she was to come here for a show, I'd go see her because she's funny as hell! I like her, don't care what people say. "Thou shalt not judge", very ignorant!

Gay or not, Love always wins at the end! On our quest for love, eventualy we will all have to learn to respect each other as human beings under god. Its not about adam and eve, its about evolution. oh and by the way, I am straight!
