From the Huffington Post:
The fallout from Tracy Morgan's homophobic rant continued to play out on Saturday, as several celebrities and Hollywood titans issued statements and took to Twitter to debate free speech vs. hate speech in the context of the comments the comedian made at a standup show on June 3rd in Nashville.
After "30 Rock" executive producer Tina Fey condemned Morgan's remarks on Friday, Cheyenne Jackson, an openly gay actor who plays Danny on "30 Rock," issued a statement to Out Magazine saying that he was "disgusted" by Morgan's words.
"I am disgusted and appalled by Tracy Morgan's homophobic rant," he said. "The devastating repercussions of hate-filled language manifest in very real ways for today's LGBTQ youth. I've known Tracy for two years, spent many long hours with him on set, and I want to believe that this behavior is not at the core of who he is. I'm incredibly disappointed by his actions, and hope that his apology is sincere."
Alec Baldwin, another "30 Rock" co-star, simply acknowledged the scandal Friday with a tweet that said, "Oh that Tracy," but said a bit more on Saturday, seeming to disapprove of his remarks by writing, "No one's making excuses for Tracy."

Hey Tracy, How would you feel if a Stage performer said that if his son were BLACK, he would "pull out a knife and stab" him, and how do you think a black kid would feel if he heard someone say that. Also how do think a Black Gay Kid would feel if he heard someone say that. You seem to be an IGNORANT Bigoted Buffoon. I will give you credit for apologizing and acknowledging that your comment was wrong, but you need to do WAY MORE (ie. in actions) to show that your apology was sincere, and until you do so, you may find that many (Straight and Gay of ALL races) may Boycott you . . .
Being a Black person and Christian myself, it is unbelievable how ignorant and bigoted that many of you are about sexual orientation, and how many of you, especially we as Blacks, will try to perpetuate the same injustice of DENYING others equal rights and respect that we have said were denied to us. And remember, many people tried to HIDE behind religion and religious books (ie. The Bible) to justify slavery and denying Black people equal rights, respect, etc Three Points.
1. Civil Rights is about MANY Groups (ie. race, gender, sex orientation, seniors, religion, disabled, etc.) and not just Race, and this is NOT about the DEGREE to which ANY group has been discriminated against or mistreated, or COMPARING one atrocity or STRUGGLE to another. Many groups, ie. Blacks (and other races), Women, Jews, Gays, Religions, Disabled, etc. have HORRIFIC stories to tell about discrimination and Unequal treatment aimed at their groups. The POINT is regardless of the horrific degree of discrimination or atrocity, ALL of these groups should have Equal Rights
2. Do most of you realize that Black Women are becoming the Group with the highest and/or fastest rate of AIDS? While Straight and Gay Blacks can be infected with AIDS though heterosexual sex, homosexual sex, and drug use, we need to recognize that one of the reasons Black Women get infected is because some black men who can't face their own homosexual attractions refuse to identify as gay, because of the rampant Bigotry towards Gays in the Black Community. Then these totally closeted black men have episodes of unsafe sex, and then go back to infect the Black Woman woman to prove that they're not gay men.
3. Wake Up Black People! What goes around comes around. If you want to spread hate and bigotry, you can't wallow in the after-effects, and please, don’t even start up on ‘religious beliefs’. Everyone has a right to believe WHATEVER we want to from a religious standpoint, but we should recognize that ALL Black Christians DO NOT have the SAME religious beliefs. Even within Christianity there are Christians of all races, walks of life, etc. who don’t have the same religious beliefs, and this would be applicable for other religions as well . . .

Jr.
You are officially carrying on. You done posted a 1000 word essay comparing civil rights to gay rights. BS! First of all Tracy Morgan is a black comedian, not a political or public figure. The majority of comedians are offensive. That's part of the job. He does jokes, humor, and points out things in life that don't make sense to everyone. I've heard other black comedians DESTROY gays and lesbians in they act, but because he is on hit sit com now its a problem. He is heterosexual and has heterosexual views. As long as it was done during his act, I am fine with it.

I guess every comedienne who joked negatively about the president, blacks, whites, latinos, asians, priests, retarded kids, dead babies, killing dogs, hijacking planes, robbing banks, and etc... ALL owe someone an apology.
The only reason he apologized was because his cheddar is now in jeapordy due to a coorporation concerned about their ratings.
To ALL sensitive people...
I'll apologize for them while you seek out the nearest support group to side with your opinion.
Tracey you did nothing wrong.
Remember Andrew dice clay, lisa lampanelli?
And how about Richard
"The greatest f***ing comedienne of all time" Prior.
Now let's review all the material from Wanda Sykes and get the million or so apologies from her owed to those she offended.

I find that those who scream the loudest condemning homosexuals are the most vulnerable. Ask some of the high profile religous leaders.

To Say What: I agree with you that other comics may have said some things that they should have apologized for. However, Three Points.
1. With all of the recent violence and bullying against Children, Gays, Women, Races, etc.,Tracy should have known better, and he should have realized that his violent comment was no joking matter. And that’s the point: Maybe he was not joking and he might have been very serious about his violent statement. Also, this is real life and not fiction, TV, or some movie, and this issue about Tracy involves children and ALL children (diff races, straight, gay, female, male, etc.) should not have to be subjected to the violent remarks towards children that Tracy stated.
2. Look at it in context and one may see that negative reaction to his remarks are NOT about people being too sensitive. I can understand how Gay people and others can look at Tracy, who says he is NOT Gay, and are appalled by his violent comments, because if he is not Gay he may be VERY SERIOUS about his violent comments. Just like if a White man said some violent things about a Black person he might be VERRY SERIOUS. Just like if a Man said some violent things about a Woman he might be VERY SERIOUS. Just like if a Non-religious person said some violent things about a Religion person, etc.
3. To anyone who takes this matter lightly (ie. As only a joke) and think it was ok for him to make that violent comment, REPLACE the word ‘gay’ with your race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, etc. and see if you think it would still be just a joke and ok.

To UI: And just like you can be fine with Tracy's actions, there are MANY people who are not fine with his actions, and both sides (or in between) can voice their opinions. Two Points.
1. BS to your comment about Civil Rights. I am comparing Civil Rights to ALL Groups rights (including Gays rights). This is not just about Gay rights or one group saying that another group is NOT equivalent to them, because if we used that standard, many people might say that Black people are not equivalent to White people therefore Black people should not have Equal Rights, or White people are not equivalent to Religious people therefore, White people should not have Equal Rights, or Women are not equivalent to men therefore women should not have Equal Rights, etc,
2. Civil Rights and Equality is about many DIFFERENT Groups (ie. race, gender, sex orientation, seniors, religion, disabled, etc.) and not just Race, and this is NOT about the DEGREE to which ANY group has been discriminated against or mistreated, or COMPARING one atrocity or STRUGGLE to another. Many groups, ie. Blacks (and other races), Women, Jews, Gays, Religions, Disabled, etc. have HORRIFIC stories to tell about discrimination and Unequal treatment aimed at their groups. The POINT is regardless of the horrific degree of discrimination or atrocity, ALL of these groups should have the Equal Rights. If we as Blacks want our Equal Rights and respect, then we certainly should give others the same . . .

The major err to your reasoning is glaringly obvious to those who may not be quick to jump on your band wagon or stand in front of your pulpit.
He's a comedian.
He may not be that funny, but if during his act he would have said he overheard the comments come from his racist hate mongering great great grandfather it would have diffused the entire core of your position.
Your examples of hate crimes including gay bashing, black againts whites, man against woman, and religous bashing are flawed.
All of those people would be arrested in many instances however, none of them would have comedian preceding their name on their police report.
That's why he wasn't arrested only chastised by a bunch of "hypocrites" who conveniently hide behind their B friggen S.

To Say What: Two Points:
1. I agree with you that had he said that he overheard it from his great great great grandfather the negative reaction (if any) would probably be almost non-existent. However, it would not diffuse the entire core of my position, because if you look at my comment I said that his statement should be looked at in Context, and he made the comments based on the context that I was referring to, and NOT the great great grandfather example the you used.
2. Your comment about the ‘arrest’ is flawed because no one is saying that Tracy should have been arrested. Since he is a Comedian his comment could have been taken as a joke or not as a joke. There are many people of all walks of life who will hide behind their livelihood/position in life (ie. Police, Politicians, Religious people, etc. and YES, even Comedians) to promote their Bigotry towards others, and they are not always arrested because of it.

To JR 2 final points.
1) The use of Succint brevity "is" more effective to get a point accross. Otherwise any point one thinks to have gets lost in an ocean of perceived interpretation and translation.
2) Try not to look at others opinions and comments as though scripture requiring interpretation.
Refer to the term overkill and give it a rest.

To Say What: Two Points.
1. Sometimes being too succinct does not get the point across, and the point can often be lost.
2. Overkill can be subjective.
Enjoy your evening.
