From MTV News:
Since releasing her debut, Songs in A Minor, 10 years ago, Alicia Keys has achieved plenty of landmarks in her life: two armloads of Grammys, a successful movie career and, recently, motherhood. But the "Fallin' " singer is still pushing into new territory with her latest project, co-producing the Broadway premiere of the play "Stick Fly." The critically acclaimed work by Lydia R. Diamond will open on Broadway at the Lyceum Theatre in December, with previews beginning on November 18.

Man, I wish, she was my woman. At least just for a week, but I'm not sure if I could deal with that crowd she hangs with. Swizz is right for her because he's cut from that cloth.
I think I would have end up like Jennifer Hudson's first man. Did he leave her or did she leave him?

Broadway? In my opinion, it is real important the first year of any babies lives to be there, give your attention, and have your priorities right. This Broadway thing could have waited. Alicia sure wasn't going to miss the BET Awards Performance, showing off by standing on the piano, performing and carry on. Just like she did when she was pregnant with heels doing the same thing. Her attention is not where it should be right now. That's my opinion. I still don't have respect for Swizz and her of the affair. Swizz was still married at the time. That was just plain wrong and could have waited to hook up after the Divorce was FINAL. It IZ what it IZ.

personally I don't care about Alicia Keys anymore or anything she stands for. I lost all respect for her once she revealed herself as a f-----g homewrecker. She didn't even take into consideration the impact it whould have on the kids he has.Since that time I haven't nor will I ever buy anything associated with Alicia Keys, but as with all things, her day will come and she will deserve every bit of what she gets.
p.s im not giving a pass to Swiss either, he's equaly as bad.

Dime you have to remember in black entertainment the goal is for them to be quad threats. Not stay in their lane when the hype machine is so high. I think Ak is a great songwriter but that's it for me. Just like Will, Jada, nor Jay Z made me want to see their B way shows now Oprah got my daughters and I to NYC!!!! I'd like to see Tina Turner or Re Re (I hope JHud does movie) stories on B way. They have actually built a legacy!

She is co producing the play not starring in it according to the article. Which is really smart because that is where we do not have as many opportunities. As for other who mentioned that she has a young child, producing is far less grueling than taking a young child out on the road.
I am happy for her we need more AA women ( I know Whoopi is producing Sister Act) producing major shows on Broadway.

So by producing a play on Broadway she doesn't have her priorities right? Why should women have to put of their dreams when they have a baby? Her situation is different she can always bring her baby to work with her. I'm just glad that another black woman is doing her thing. More work opportunities for black entertainers.

@Zee-No the problem is "talented" people are getting passed over for hyped up individuals (AK can't act)!!! My daughter always made it her business for me to see B way shows with actors/actresses who paid their dues. Not someone pimping a CD/movie who ran to B way for more PR! It't not about "women/mothers" not living their dreams.

@ZEE
I had mentioned, that Keys should get her priorities right. The first years of any babies life is critical. The baby isn't a year yet? In her profession, is touring, doing concerts, appearances, ect.. is wise to do now? It wouldn't hurt her, I'm sure to take a break. I'm not saying she shouldn't go for her dreams or any other Black Woman. Alicia has accomplished a whole lot in her life time. Ok, there is an opportunity right now, but I'm sure there will be other opportunities to come. She has $$$$$ and don't have to go back to work right away? That's what I meant on setting priorities right.
PEACE
@Deb
I hear ya. She might still write good songs but it stops there for me. I don't have any respect for her at all.
PEACE
