From indieWire:
The last time this project and its cast were discussed here was back in November of last year at the old site; when Tambay reported Faith Evans would portray singer Florence Ballard in her big screen biopic. At the time, Taraji P. Henson was also rumored to have been offered the role of Diana Ross. Well now, it looks like both Evans and Henson are out of the picture.

@starlet, Flo wasn't biracial. She's of mixed heritage like the vast majority of African Americans.

Is that young lady the little red haired girl who did such an awsome job in that movie about a New Orleans Creole Family?

Once and for all get of Diana Ross's back. IF Florence had such a great voice, why didn't people buy the records that she sang? Diana was then and will forever be the vocal talent of the group that launched them into the superstar status that the Supremes still hold. Although talented, Florence couldn't deliver what Diana could and people need to accept that. Apprarently this something neither Florence and Mary could accept then and now. Florence made poor decisions both personally and professionally. She was so beset by her own personal demons that she couldn't pull herself together to truly promote the Supremes. What were Diana, Berry , and the rest supposed to do, just let Florence self destruct with all of their careers/lives in her hands? Only a fool would have been stupid enough to let that happen! I have and will always have the utmost respect for Ms. Diana Ross and the barriers that she broke that making possible the careers of Whitney, Janet, Beyonce, and scores more.

You left out ONE item though. Diana was fuccking Berry, not Flo. Diana was "marketed" for cross-over (the euro-clowns, whites) appeal.
Flo made destructive business and personal decisions, but when you're fuccking the boss just how much persuasion/influence did Flo and Mary REALLY have? Diana and Berry, Karma is a biotch.

@ Vic1101,
At last a voice that is reasonable and knows what you are talking about.
You are absolutely correct!
Folks may want to romanticise the Flo Ballard story, but most do not know the real issues about Florence.
If people listen carefully, Florence Ballard could never out sing Diana, and Barry Gordy was right in pushing Diana because not only did Diana have that special tone/voice which he knew was a winner, she also had everything thing else that it took to become a star! Diana always had star quality!
Although some may not like it, Florence Ballard was her own worse emeny!
Unfortunate, but true!

Now I know you crazy as hell. I did listen and I know for a FACT that Flo could OUTSING Diane on her worst day, with a the damn flu. What you and all the other Ross buttkissers are mad about is that when this movie comes out and people go back and listen to those old(first)recordings, the truth is going to come out and the whole world will know who really had the best voice.

@Toni,
Sorry, but you are spreading rumors and do not know what you are talking about.
All of what you wrote is untrue.
Diana was the one who DID give Flo/children monies, and tried to save her home.
Again, Ms. Ballard made foolish choices in her life and her choice in men was not that great. I would ask him (her man) what happened to the home and the money!
Please stop spreading rumors that you do not know anything about, Ok?
That ain't cool.
