New Edition's 1983 top-ten single, 'Is This the End,' told a melodic tale of heartbreak and separation, similar to the group's much publicized breakup in the 1980s. Luckily, the group have since matured and put their differences behind them with a pair of reunion shows within the last few weeks.

For Bobby Brown, reuniting on stage with his long-time friends is a humbling experience. A drastic contrast in attitude coming from the former bad boy of R&B, who was initially kicked out of the group in 1986 for his image.

The 'My Prerogative' singer opened up exclusively for New York magazine on New Edition's first show at this year's annual Essence Music Festival. "I was just happy that they was able to keep up with me. Me, myself, being Bobby Brown? You know, I was just hoping that somebody in the group was gonna have feet like mine," he said before group member Ricky Bell joked, "That's why he's getting kicked out the group again. Everyone, enjoy Bobby's performance tonight, because it'll be his last."

Great news for music fans across the globe, D'Angelo's long-awaited follow-up to 2000's 'Voodoo,' 'James River,' may finally see the light of day before next January. And despite previous reports of the crooner setting a 2010 release date in the past, this time around appears to be pretty certain.

Earlier this week long time D'Angelo collaborator and Roots member, Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson confirmed via Twitter that the Grammy Award-winner is back in the studio crafting tracks. "Most people use midnight as a time to sleep. Others are working on their 11 year follow-up. This of course being hour number one," he wrote during a July 12 studio session with the singer.

"I'm not talking about the history of black people, of African Americans. I'm talking about at this point right now... I don't know of organizations and groups like Focus on the Family and such anti-gay organizations who are putting up so much money – millions and millions of dollars – into stopping me from, you know, being black or telling me I can't exercise my blackness. There's no equality. There's no equality for the LGBT community."

Rule of thumb. If you're ever lucky enough to run into Patti LaBelle at the airport, make sure you give her enough space or be prepared to face her 'New Attitude.' The latter appears to have been the fate of a 23-year-old West Point cadet, who is reportedly now suing LaBelle following an alleged assault by her body guards in March.

ABC News reports that Richard King was standing next to LaBelle's luggage in the passenger pickup area outside George HW Bush intercontinental airport in Houston when LaBelle ordered her bodyguards to confront him.

If you haven't heard by now, the debut of VH1's newest hour-long scripted series, 'Single Ladies' has already made history following its May 30 premiere. With the help of the season three premiere of 'Basketball Wives,' the romantic comedy series landed the network its highest rated night since October 2009. Drawing in over 2.8 million total viewers.
